Hello Everyone. My name is , I'm new to this post. I've had jra since

age 2. On & off prednisone since age 6. Had a thr in 04 which went well, but

now need a total knee ® & possibly a thr ® as well.

Despite all this crap I have been very active, skiing, biking. I have a 3yo son

& I want my life back so that I can do these things with him. I'm really

scared. I'm in pain. I don't want to spend a life of surgeries over & over. I

have so many things going on, plus I'm on Enbrel, vitamin d, fosamax now,

calcium. I'm also juicing. I don't know anymore what's causing the pain

and/or if it's side effects of any of the meds.

I just want to stop being in pain constantly & be able to be active again. The

drain on my spirit, I feel, is the absolute worst part. When I was positive &

believed, I was doing well. I must say after the past few months I am really

discouraged now & scared.

any advice? thanks

Ps Dr. Dunn In Florida says he can regrow cartilage - I'm seriously considering

trying this option - anyone know anything about him?

Hi :

I am so sorry you are in so much pain right now. I also know how hard

it is for you with such a little boy.

What meds. are you on for your RA, and what pain meds. do you take? Are

you currently on Pred. daily?

Do you see a Rheumy? If so, have you called your Rheumy to tell him/her

as to all the pain you are in, and also, how scared you are right now?

I guess you need to start somewhere to try and feel better. I have

found that with RA it is all trial and error to just find the right

" cocktail " of meds. that work right for ourselves. I have been at it

for 6 years, and have finally found what works best for me.

I have been on Pred. each and everyday all this time. I could not

function, or get out of pain without it. So for me, it is the best

choice. I have had a total hip replacement, also my right knee. I will

have my left knee totally replaced on April 21st. I can't wait as I am

in such pain and can hardly walk.

I hope you do call your Rheumy to see if you can begin to feel better.

You have come to the best place for comfort, knowledge, and compassion.

We all know what you are going through.

Wishing you pain free days ahead.

Hugs,

Barbara

Hi Christene:

I hope you are feeling a little better pain wise, and that the pain

meds. are making you feel more comfortable. I have said so many times

that pain is so wearing.

Yes to the question about what I can do since the hip and knee

replacements. I could do most anything with no pain. I can't wash

floors on my knee's anymore, nor can I get out of my deep garden tub.

So I just shower instead. I do try to walk a little if I am sitting

too long. I get stiff. Overall, my 2 replacements have been wonderful,

and I highly recommend them when people are considering them. As you

know, I can't wait until the 21st to get my other knee done. The pain

is just so bad, I can hardly take it. I am talking my pain meds. 3x a

day, but they aren't helping much.

I saw my Rheumy today and she gave me a RX for stronger pain meds. as I

can hardly walk. Using my cane, and walker, if needed. I sure don't

want to fall!!! My leg wound is healing nicely. I am a good healer

thank God for that.

I will be glad when you see your dr. Hopefully, you will then get the

meds. you need. It does take time to find the right meds., so don't get

discouraged. I have had the RA 6 years, and finally have something that

works good for me. My flares are shorter, and much longer in between.

I am amazed with all the stress I am under that my RA did not flare. My

Rheumy was so happy about that.

I do rest everyday and nap if I am very tired. I have been so very

tired these last weeks, I don't know if it's the move, or the stress.

Hard to say. I used to feel guilty if I laid down or took a nap, but

not anymore. I have learned to live with RA as best as I can, and just

do what I can each day. I do set goals for myself for each day. I try

to get things done, and if I can't get to everything, I will do it the

next day. It was so hard for me to learn to pace myself. I learned

that if I pushed myself too far, I would spend the next 3 or 4 days in

bed. I soon learned it was too high a price to pay. I do work my life

around the RA.

I look forward to talking with you again. Wishing you better days

ahead, and to be pain free.

Hugs,

Barbara
