Guest guest
Donna, when I started Arava, I had bad intestinal cramps and nausea, to the point of hospitalization. It took me a week to get good enough to be released, and took a little longer to feel myself again. It seems that when it goes bad, it's bad! I hope it doesn't get that way for you. Guest guest
I had diarrhea for a few weeks and then it went away (except if I go off the meds because I'm sick - then it will start again but doesn't last as long). susan started arava < /message/136744;_ylc=X3oDMTJyY2w5ZTNyBF\ 9TAzk3MzU5NzE1BGdycElkAzEwMTQ3OARncnBzcElkAzE3MDUwNjE2MTAEbXNnSWQDMTM2NzQ0BHNlYw\ NkbXNnBHNsawN2bXNnBHN0aW1lAzEyODAyNTQ5Njc-> Posted by: " koala2u " koala2u@... <koala2u@...?Subject=+Re%3Astarted%20arava> koala2u <koala2u> Tue Jul 27, 2010 6:30 am (PDT) I started Arava on Friday - 20 mg a day. I did well Friday and Saturday, and then Sunday started to not feel too great. Today I have had diarrhea, nausea, and I haven't been able to eat. I know the diarrhea is a common side effect, but I was wondering if it actually will go away with time or will I have to quit the Arava and have it eliminated with cholestyramine? Anyone have any information on this I would appreciate it. Donna
Guest guest
Well today I am better, but I am not able to eat - no appetite at all. Heck of a way to lose weight I tell ya! I am hopeful that this is a temporary side effect that will go away too, and Dennis, my goodness how awful that sounds what you went through. If it's not one thing it's another with this disease. Guest guest
I didn't require hospitalization, but I had terrible side effects from Arava. I had loss of appetite, nausea and relentless diarrhea. It was the worst I ever felt and to top it off, my joints were terrible too. Had to take the cholestramine to get rid of the diarrhea but I am still not the same as befor. I just recently read where they increased the warning for Arava to a severe risk of liver failure. If you get sick, call your doctor right away. Best of luck to you - I am taking Imuran now (which has terrible risks too - but I have to be able to function) Maggie > > > Well today I am better, but I am not able to eat - no appetite at all. > Heck of a way to lose weight I tell ya!
