I had actually meant to add in my last email that I was glad you were having such a wonderful time with your family!!! Where are they? I know you are from the big sunshine state! So your problem with pred is that you can't totally get off it without having RA issues? Mmmmm...I hate that for you. You know it is so funny - every doc I have ever seen has been so freaky about pred - don't stop it without weaning off, you will have major withdrawals and/or your problems could return, etc.etc.... But do you know - I guess I 'm just some weird lab rat - I can take pred for 6-8 mos and it will help greatly and then boom - it stops working and I'm able ( against harsh words from everyone in the med profession!!!) to just not take it anymore. I don't get withdrawals ( now I have if I have been up to 10 mg - I have to cut down to 5 for just a couple of days then I can just stop). My system seems to only be able to take it for less than a yr then it does nothing for me or to me when I abrubtly stop. NOTE!!!!! **** to anyone reading this - do NOT - do NOT attempt this**** I certainly don't want someone to try this because I know I'm not the norm - I have heard horror stories. I am just sorry that you have to stay on it. What does the doc say? Is there not something that you can change to - well I guess there really isn't. At least I haven't heard of anything in place of prednisone. You'd think that by now there would be a new and better drug - welll, I'm so sorry. I have always called it the b***h drug - always made me feel like my evil twin had come out whenever I've been on it !! And talking about road rage!!!! OMG!! )))) I'll keep you in my prayers and maybe just maybe some good old prayers will help you get off of it and stay off it without repercutions! Have loads of fun with your family - you SO deserve it - glad the weather is great for you guys!!! I am most happy though that you feel good enough to really, really enjoy your family!!! I was not successful decreasing my Pred. So my Rheumy will order me diff. strengths of Pred. and when I get home, I will try again. I have been on 5mg. or 10 mg. of Pred. daily for 6 years. I keep trying. When I got back to 5mg. I started a small flare, in my fingers and feet, so went back to 10 mg. It works so good for me, but I have never been off it totally. I always say, " Next time " . I hope you are doing good. Always nice to talk with you. Thanks for this nice letter. I am having such a great time with my family. Perfect weather. No humidity, dry and cool. When I left Florida Tues. it was 96, and very humid....... Take care of yourself and get plenty of rest.
