Hello everyone

I am a new member and found the group after joining FatSecret.com and seeing Intuitive Eating as one of their "diets."

I have been trying the intuitive eating method for a few months. In April I saw McKenna and watched his shows over several weeks. His main premise was eat what you want when hungry and stop when full. Eat whatever you want. That made much more sense to me than the diet mentality that I have struggled with for so long.

I have tried many diets. I fail at each one, sometimes after a lot of weight loss and even after following plans for over a year. I just can not restrict myself the way these diets want you to. I have finally accepted that and realized there is nothing wrong with me-it is the diet mentality that is wrong. It has taken a long time but I am really grateful to have been able to accept that and myself after so many years.

I have lost a few pounds since that time and gained a few as well. I am currently down about 20 pounds from my high of 238 last year. It does not matter as much to me though as the fact that I feel like I am making healthier choices because I want to and not because I am supposed to.

I hope to be able to continue this journey and stop the diet mentality completely once and for all.
