Guest guest
Hi! I am going thru almost exactly what you are right now as well! Although I've had RA for 5 years and it used to show up on my bloodwork, I too, just saw a new doctor last week - took half my blood, urine, ex=rays, bone density tests - you name it. I've been called back in for more blood (as if they had not taken enough!!) on next Tuesday. I won't see my doc to go over the results until the 23rd. I have been thru this same routine with another doctor who claimed I didnt' even have RA! As long as your doc is truly listening to your issues and is trying to find answers, I think you are on the right path. If she didn't listen to you, the first thing I would say is find another doctor! But it does sound like she is trying to get to the bottom of your pain. I am sorry you are in pain as you discribed - it is very frustrating, but hang in there. We are all here for each other - you'll love this group! Keep us posted when you find out more! Good luck - and as I said before, just hang in there. in SC From: lamiefulk <klamiefulk@...> Subject: [ ] first appoinment over still no answers Date: Wednesday, September 2, 2009, 9:22 PM Hello I am still really new to this group. and I have been reading every ones posts and every thing sounds so familiar. any way i went to the Rhumatoligst on Monday and well 11 vials of blood one cup of urine and 14 xrays later I am still waiting for some kind of answer. the doctor was very nice and seemed to understand what i was saying she is just confused as to why my blood work doesn't show what is going on. I should hear on Thursday if they found anything. if my tests are still normal i will have to have an ultrasound on my fingers to see if she can see the inflammation that way. and try me on a couple of weeks of predisone and see how i respond and if i do respond well to the prednisone then she will see what course of treatment to follow then . I don't know if any one else has went threw so many steps to get some kind of answer to the stiffness and pain and loss of motion in there joints but never the less this is where i am at. stiff sore exhausted some times so swollen i can not close my hands or grip anything. she did say that there is an inflammatory arthritis that starts in the back and then moves to the fingers and toes and she does think that i may have that but needs to check every thing else out. and RA is most likely my issue but i have no clinical tests to prove it just symptoms. ahhh oh well just wanted to post an update hope every one is doing better tonight or on there way to wellness thanks for listening and the advice from Michigan. Guest guest
Hi. I have had arthritis symptoms for several years. I have identical pain on both sides -i,.e. wrists, hands, feet, etc. I have swelling and severe stiffness in the morning for about an hour. I have all the symptoms of RA but my bloodwork is always normal. Who knows why? My rheumi says that he can diagnose based on symptoms. Hope this helps. Guest guest
I have had symptoms for over 10 years and still not one test positive for RA. I give up worrying about getting a postive test and work on trying to feel better (although I know the frustration). I got a new Rheumy and he started me on prednisone and it did help, so he said he would treat me as I had it and I do have improvement. Most of the time, this isn't one of those times (otherwise I would be outside throwing the ball for the dogs instead of reading here!). It may take several meds before you find the right one, but hang in there, I am glad I did. I finally have some days that I actually feel almost human, didn't ever think that would happen! Good luck, Dawn in MN > > Hello I am still really new to this group. and I have been reading every ones posts and every thing sounds so familiar. any way i went to the Rhumatoligst on Monday and well 11 vials of blood one cup of urine and 14 xrays later I am still waiting for some kind of answer. the doctor was very nice and seemed to understand what i was saying she is just confused as to why my blood work doesn't show what is going on.
