Guest guest
For the last 3 weeks I have been having some issues and wondering about them and maybe someone who has simulair symptoms can help me figure out what is going on. First I will get increasingly hot to the point where I sweat excessively, then I will get a major upset stomach along with this I get restless, can't stay in one spot and then my body starts to hurt on my right side normally starting at my hand and then moving up my arm to my shoulder then down my body all the way to my toes. Some days they aren't very severe other days its worse like tonight. It started about 5pm the hot flashes or heat attacks as I like to call them. I was in my room reading a book, went upstairs to get a drink and use the ladies room and felt extremely hot (we have AC here and it works just fine), it wouldn't stop, around 8pm I went up to use the ladies room again and was still hot and sweating, around 8:30 I called upstairs and asked if someone could bring me down a cold wash cloth because I couldn't hardly move, my stomach started hurting and I was sweating like I had ran a marathon or something. I used the wash cloth with no relief from it. I crawled out of my bed with the help of my almost 7 year old and crawled up the steps when I got to the kitchen my exhusband was making something or other and helped me up to the bathroom I went to use it again but didn't really have to go, so started filling the tub up with cool water and was in and out in and out of it, ended up calling my exhusband's wife to help me cool down because it was such a severe attack. The only thing that seems to help when I get these is the cool water and tramadol. I only take the tramadol when I really need it and don't like taking it for every little ache and pain. After about 30 mins I was feeling much better and it hadn't come back but this is gone from a maybe yearly experience to almost every day now in the last 3 weeks. If anyone has any suggestions please let me know. I will be calling my Rheumy on Monday to see what he says about what is going on. I'm currently only on the tramadol and Remicade. in land
Guest guest
Oh , your message sounded so desperate, and rightly so. Clearly, something is not right with your body. I have been diagnosed with RA & Fibro since 1990, so I hope my words will help. Over the years I've tried every kind of pain relief imaginable, along with my MTX, including Tramadol which I'm on now. I had a wicked, month-long withdrawal from doctor-prescribed Oxycontin last year which left me with exactly the same syptoms as you're describing. I find that Tramadol creates the same type of withdrawal symptoms , in ME (maybe not everyone), as you're experiencing if I don't take it regularly. If you check the Addictions forum on MedHelp.com, you will see that many others have had the same trouble with this drug after taking it exactly as prescribed. Many people, including doctors, will tell you that " you can't consider yourself an addict if you're taking the drug simply for the relief of legitimate pain " . I wanted to believe that, so badly, but with some drugs, like Tramadol, we build up a tolerance so we feel the symptoms of withdrawal occasionally if we don't step up the dose. I'm so glad you have an appointment with your rheumy. It would be a good idea to discuss this with her. I could be completely out-to-lunch. It could be partly due to the drug and partly due to an infection of some kind (we, with compromised immune systems, tend to get infections more often than most). Please let us know how you're faring, okay? Guest guest
: I used to feel something like this, before I started Enbrel. My legs were on FIRE, burning, from the feet up to my hips, as if someone poured hot, molten lead into them. I sort of recognize what you are going through. Actually, even though I take alot of pain meds, they dont really work for the " burnies " ... Can it be that your DMARD's stoppped working and you need to change?, can it be that you need an emergency 4 days of prednisone? You sort of have to play with your drugs, with your doctor, until you find the right cocktail. It took me a full 8 months for the combo of different drugs to work. I am now on Opana for pain, its strong, its morphine, even that sometimes doesnt work for the " stiffies " , but its better than suffering worse without it..
