Guest guest
Hi , Um, I know from personal experience, DOCTORS make the worst patients! Stand your ground and get what you need. I am sorry you have an HMO, that tends to make problems with your options. If you are with a group policy maybe you could change to a ppo the next time you have open enrollment? in CA Life may not be the party we hoped for, but while we're here we might as well dance. Dear group I want to thank you all for your comments, some days, I didn't think I could make it another day.....just getting up in the morning with this stiffness is so tiring.....I was doing better with my " cocktail " as Barbara calls it [] when my rheumy left my HMO and the new one doesn't want to prescribe the little amount of prednisone (monitored and all) that kept me moving. Now, i am back with the horrible stiffness, can't take much of anything else because of side effects, so I don't understand why he will not be agreeing, I have hardly any side effects with the 5mg prednisone, (bone density, liver and blood work are fine). I can't find another rheumy so I am left fencing all alone... oh, and he said " you nurses makes the worst patients " .... Sorry, kind of long, but just had to vent, friends and family don't quite understand the " fuss'.... Need hugs... in CA
Guest guest
Goodness that's not nice of the RA doc. May I ask you a question? When you say morning stiffness..... Would you mind giving me some details of it. I can bairly walk in the AM and have HORRIBLE Spasms from my chest down all night w/o massive muscle relaxers.  Kate Fontaine  " Don't cry because it's over. Smile because it happened. Guest guest
Hi . I am so sorry you are feeling awful. Why that Rheumy will not give you Pred. is beyond me. Not a caring Rheumy at all.  I hope you can get through to that Rheumy, and if not, see if you can find another one in your HMO plan. You so deserve a caring, compassionate, loving Dr. who really cares about you, and who will try to help you feel better.  As Heidi in Mass. says to me all the time, I am sending you many monster hugs " , so I am sending them to you. Nothing feels as good as a hug!!!  I pray you will be out of pain and have better days ahead.  Hugs,  Barbara From: Simone <rouen2m@...> Subject: [ ] just venting...... Guest guest
I'm sorry you have such a Rummy. There's not much of a reason for his actions. He sounds like the one I just fired. He 'insisted' that I get off Prednisone, and I tried although I have tried a dozen times and had no success. I've been on a 10mg dose for about 20 years, not a great amount and have no ill effects from it. He and his PA decided that I wasn't cooperating and wouldn't treat any of my other problems. Then, when I called for a refill for the Prednisone, he prescribed only 30 5mg tabs, trying to force me to cut down. I'm now seeing another Rheumy, one I had before and will change again the first of the year when I change insurance. I guess you get what you pay for.... Guest guest
Wow, do I feel you. My hospital can keep a Rheumy, so you have very little continuity. One trick I learned is to have your prescriptions given to you in 90 day refills, rather than monthly, its cheaper and also if your Rheumy leaves or you have to switch, not only do you have 3 months of meds in your cabinet, you also have REFILLS, and damn what the Rheumy's say (I have worked with doctors for 30 years and dammit some of hem frankly dont listen to their patients). The only med this doesnt work for is pain meds, those have to be prescriped monthly. You being a nurse should understand this. LISTENING to your patients should be the first rule of doctoring...but then doctors diagnose and nurses heal. OKD
