Guest guest
Oh I totally agree...it was JOY who said it. Not exactly the most tolerant character. And it does kinda show what an idiot she is. But....as a fat person I don't really see the humor in it. I love the Gilmore Girls and Sookie! I watched the pilot of Who and was excited when I saw McCarthy on it. But I was soon disappointed in how her character was protrayed. I haven't watched the show since. There are things that definitely bother me. Like thefabulous actress McCarthy, who played Sookie on Gilmore Girls. On that show, her weight was NEVER mentioned, and she had an awesome, unique style all her own. On Who? her weight isn't exactly mentioned, but she's thissort of awkward person who isn't sure of herself. Though she does nowhave a boyfriend, so that's good. Oddly enough, that bugs me way more than the comment Joy made. I evenlaughed at her explanation, I must admit. I think it has to do withwhere the comment is coming from! It's JOY on Earl. Really, who is Joyto judge? But to see a beautiful, overweight actress given a role where hercharacter is negatively portrayed because of weight bugs me a lot more. >> Is anyone else really sensitive to how fat people are portrayed ontv shows? Some shows are just rude. I was watching My Name is Earlon Thursday night and Joy was listing off where a snitch was in theheirachy of people. "First there's regular people, then fat people, then Al Queda and terrorists, then snitches." There were more groupsof people too but I don't remember them all. Then her husband said"When did you move fat people above AlQueda and terrorists?" Herreply was "I saw this special on thyroid disorder and it broke my heart."> > Saying that fat people are worse than terrorists?? I was stunned. I know they are just trying to be funny but how in any way is thatfunny? > > Kipkabob> (Intuitive eating since September 2006)> > > ____________ _________ _________ _________ _________ _________ _> Looking for the perfect gift? Guest guest
The actress on Samanta Who is the same one who was on Gilmore Girls. The thing I note is that black women can be larger and still be beautiful, but fat white women are usually trashy or stupid or crazy. I don't know. There are things that definitely bother me. It's the kind of sarcasm I sometimes use to tell people to STFU when you can't really say to them STFU. Regards s.

It's > AWFUL! Which is absolutely ridiculous given the fact that probably only the actors in front of the camera look like " the ideal " and most of the crew behind the camera might not look like this. Regards s.
