Indeed.

However, at one point I had to laugh. Do these people REALLY believe, I

mean REALLY BELIEVE that these strategies to " slim down the partner "

will work? I mean... come on... LOL.

I don't know. There are things that definitely bother me. Like the

fabulous actress McCarthy, who played Sookie on Gilmore Girls.

On that show, her weight was NEVER mentioned, and she had an awesome,

unique style all her own.

On Who? her weight isn't exactly mentioned, but she's this

sort of awkward person who isn't sure of herself. Though she does now

have a boyfriend, so that's good.

Oddly enough, that bugs me way more than the comment Joy made. I even

laughed at her explanation, I must admit. I think it has to do with

where the comment is coming from! It's JOY on Earl. Really, who is Joy

to judge?

But to see a beautiful, overweight actress given a role where her

character is negatively portrayed because of weight bugs me a lot more.

tv shows? Some shows are just rude. I was watching My Name is Earl

on Thursday night and Joy was listing off where a snitch was in the

heirachy of people. " First there's regular people, then fat people,

then Al Queda and terrorists, then snitches. " There were more groups

of people too but I don't remember them all. Then her husband said

" When did you move fat people above AlQueda and terrorists? " Her

reply was " I saw this special on thyroid disorder and it broke my heart. "

I know they are just trying to be funny but how in any way is that

funny?

I was bemused by the website, too. The thing is (like with Joy on

Earl) these people, just like we used to, think that being

overweight is the result of a character deficit, lack of willpower,

laziness, etc. This way of thinking is due to ignorance and diet

mentality, which WE now know is a bunch of bullsh*t, but they don't.

I just wish I could get the message of IE out to all of them and

free their hearts and minds...

Hollywood's attitude toward fat people, or normal-sized people whom

they consider " fat, " is horrifying. If people could hear the way

producers, directors, crew members, and other actors talk about anyone

who doesn't fit the so-called " ideal " (which is actually severely

underweight), they'd never watch another movie or TV show again. It's

AWFUL!

Think " Mad Men " times a billion.

Hollywood has yet to realize that it's the 21st century.
