Guest guest
: Do you have any research to support theories of inflammation of RA affecting ALL the glands in the body? Does RA affect all glands? Thanks OKD
Guest guest
OKD, Because RA is a systemic disease, it is reasonable to expect the various glands to be affected to some degree. I'm not sure if, in reality, they are or to what extent they are. Many discussions and research along those lines focus on secondary conditions such as associated Graves' or Hashimoto's (thyroid gland), Sjogren's syndrome (lacrimal and salivary glands), and medication side effects (such as the adrenal glands being affected by prednisone). There has also been much investigation of the function of the hypothalamic-pituitary-adrenal (HPA) axis in RA patients.
