If the contents of your stomach cavity spill into your abdominal cavity then you are in trouble medically. Life threatening. V in C
Guest guest
I want to chime in on this. Personally, I wouldn't go to a surgeon who let anyone eat solid foods before having a barium swallow. From what I've read, if solid food leaks into the abdominal cavity and people don't realize it they can die. I know you could get a leak after the barium swallow, but I wouldn't go to a doctor who didn't require one. in St. Louis
Guest guest
I would like to interject that my doctor doesn't require one. He feels that if he even thinks there is a leak he will immediately go back in not risking precious time for testing. He is a very good surgeon. The passing of gas is his test that everything is in working order. As I said he is and excellent surgeon. I would bet my life on him and in fact did........ But this is just my .02 hugs Dana Re: leak vs SLD > I want to chime in on this. Personally, I wouldn't go to a surgeon who let > anyone eat solid foods before having a barium swallow.
