Kate,

Our children are the most important part of our lives. Remember you need to be

their spoke person at all times. Keep up with the doctors in the hospital

sometimes you know Charlie better then them. I will keep Charlie in my prayers &

pray for a quick recovery.

Dear Kate: So sorry to read that Charlie is so sick. My thoughts and

prayers are with both of you.

I have been through the same thing since my daughter was born. It

is so scary but kids bounce back so much quicker that we do.

If he has asthma, and I pray he doesn't, that can be managed also.

Medicines, inhalers, and Nebulizers do wonderful, and lessens trips to

the E.R.

Again, my thoughts and prayers are with both of you. God Bless you

both.

Hugs,

Barbara

Dear Kate:

Dont know you, but feel your anxiety. I KNOW Asthma and pneumonia, them and my

kids are old adversaries. All 3 of my kids had asthma, up until today my 24 yo

still has it. They used to be very sick from it.

Double Pneumonia is hard on the little ones. I know how hard it is with them

trying to stick your kid and not being able to hit the vein, or start an IV too.

Truth be told the residents even though they are young, do it much more than the

attending physcians, so they tend to be better at it. Know your attending

physician and learn the hospital administration so you can escalate things if

you need too. Know the pediatric pulmonologist and the pediatric allergist,

they may be your very dear friends in the future.

Remember, you know your child better than anyone, dont let them tell you

otherwise!!

If you want some advice on the different meds tried over the years, let me know,

I have been thru at least thirty (literally) related to asthma...

Hope the lil one recovers soon.

OKD

Kate, I don't post much, but wanted to assure you that Charlie is in

my thoughts and prayers.

All three of my kids have asthma. My youngest learned how to monitor

her breathing with this little device you blow into, and we could

adjust her meds to avoid a really bad flare. Still, she ended up in

the doctor's office to get IV steroids about once a year. She hated

the needles, don't blame her or Charlie. It's tough for a little one.

She' 24 now, and having a really rough time with the smoke from the

LA fires.

My middle son has what the doctor called " silent asthma " . No

wheezing, first sign was usually bronchitis, which twice turned into

pneumonia. Scary, very scary. He's now 30, and very healthy.

So, if you want to ask questions about meds, or diet (food allergies)

or setting up a room for a highly allergic child, or just to vent, I'm

here. Dealing with kids with chronic health problems is hard, I can't

imagine doing it with RA. I didn't have any symptoms until my kids

were grown.

Again, you're all in my prayers,
