Guest guest
I know that it's normal, when one starts IE, to gain a bit of weight, especially when you're starting out at a weight that is a bit too low for your body (as is the case with me...I had to work really hard to fight against my body to keep me at my " ideal " weight). But how do you power through it? While I'm really happy emotionally with IE, it is difficult to deal with having to wear a size up in pants and shirts. Any tips would be greatly appreciated!! Guest guest
Way back there was a string of posts written about finding clothes WITHOUT looking at the 'size' labels! It was very interesting to not only note things like variance in fit vs. size # as well as how to NOT 'know' the size too. Being comfortable in one's clothes is obvious, but being comfortable in one's body is harder to achieve. I am not as challenged as you are for being underweight - I can only imagine that. But I'm sure that others here who share your concern will post responses about what they are feeling and doing in this endeavor. BEST to you, Katcha IEing since March 2007 > > I know that it's normal, when one starts IE, to gain a bit of weight, > especially when you're starting out at a weight that is a bit too low > for your body (as is the case with me...I had to work really hard to > fight against my body to keep me at my " ideal " weight). > > But how do you power through it? Guest guest
Christy, I can imagine that this step could be a bit scary and anxiety provoking. Yet, the fact that you are working with IE demonstrates that you are ready to take this journey...one step and one day at a time. It will work out...you'll figure it out...with us here to support and encourage you. I am on the overweight side of the spectrum and realized that I am facing a similar challenge. I went to Lane (a plus-sized store) yesterday and saw some great clothes in the colors and styles that I love. Then, I walked through the non-plus style section of an department store and noticed that I didn't really like the colors or styles as much. My body is transforming as I find balance practicing IE...my weight is going down...so my size will go down. I had these thoughts about what if I can't find clothes that I like at other sizes, buying new clothes is expensive...etc. Though, like you practicing IE just " feels " right for me. I'm trusting and having faith that all of my questions will resolve themselves. Going down in size is typically more " acceptable " that going up in size and that's a point of distinction in our experience. I'm sure you have questions and fears about how far up in size you'll go. There are no clear answers right now. Though I do have faith that the IE principles help us get to a much saner and balanced place...with both intuitive eating and intuitive movement.
