I visited a regular rheumatologist in Feb. who prescribed prednisone (I'm down to 5 mg/day) and MTX, which I have not had filled - I was scared from the literature and little research I've done. I got the name of a Dr near Denver (from roadback.org) that I visited last week and he has already started me on Minocin, fish oil, boswellia and strange to me, a diluted histamine solution. He did an allergy test with the histamine and then gave me the diluted solution for sublingual doses. He said it should help my joint pain within a few minutes but I really didn't understand until later that day on the way home. I used it when I almost couldn't walk from the stiffness and pain and within 10-20 minutes, the stiffness was reduced and the pain was almost gone. Of course, the aches were still there, but the knife-like pain was gone. Has anyone else had this experience with diluted histamine? Regards, JhaRee **************A Good Credit Score is 700 or Above. Guest guest
Hi Ana, In answer to your question 'yes' - first cab off the rank whilst we were waiting on the initial test results was she asked me to write down all my illnesses (especially childhood illnesses), then where I had been in the world (different countries could be specific bacteria she was looking for) & finally what animals I had come in close contact with (not an occasional pat for a few seconds & not only pets. For me the illnesses were almost non-existent but the rest was extensive so more tests were ordered. Then when my tests came back that's when we started on the first lot of abx, after that the antibiotics were changed/tweaked because my system seemed to get used to them & testing showed they were less effective than they had been in the beginning. My Dr D also works hand in hand with a Naturopath who for 20 years has specialised in being able to diagnose specific bacteria in your system. Interesting, both my Dr & Naturopath have RA .. Again I have written an essay instead of a post .... sorry for being so lengthy! Guest guest
Hello all- My name is and I have recently been diagnosed with RA. Like most of you- I suspect- I am bewildered by the lack of understanding of this disease by the people in my life and sought support. So, here I am. I am feeling very alone with this. My partner tries hard to understand and be supportive, but doesn't seem to 'get it'. My grown children pass this off as just another one of my health issues. I have degenerating disc disease, nerve damage, fibro, diabetes, and a plethora of other minor health issues. I haven't complained about my physical problems all that much until now. I feel overwhelmed by the RA. It somehow feels 'bigger' than my capacity to cope. I have been placed on Prednisone, Methotrexate, and Mobic on top of the other 13 meds that I take. I have developed a toads neck in under 2 weeks. Ya gotta love Pred eh? I have been disabled since 2000. 4 years ago, I bought land so that I could go back to the country. I'll not be able to get a conventional job again. I have been working toward getting off of Social Security since 2006. I have been working on building a goat dairy. I make cheese. I have spent tens of thousands of dollars to get to this point and fruition of my dream was in sight. Now, I don't know how it will work out with these hands that suddenly don't work so very good anymore. I know I am whining. I just feel so angry all of the time. I just wanted to support myself again. To have purpose. To have a reason to get up in the morning again. We have the dairy goats, pigs, chickens, turkey, rabbits, steer and a crazy QuarterHorse Paint that distract me from my body enough to function. I used to ride 300 days a year. I have yet to swing up onto this horse and it has been 25 years since I last rode. I am scared to death to try now because if I can't - well, then I'll not be able to at all. EVER. I can't handle that. I never said it was rational thinking- lol. My Docs would stroke out if they knew I was looking at even a picture of a horse! I had heard about a supposed connection to RA with the stop-smoking drug Chantix. I had started the Chantix about 3 months ago. This RA thing came on very suddenly ( I already had OA ). Have any of you heard about this connection? Thank you all for listening to me. Sorry to whine, I had to say all of this to somebody. It has taken me almost 2 hours to type this. in SC
Guest guest
Hi I just wanted you to know that 11 years ago when my RA showed it's ugly head, literally overnight, I was unable to do anything for 6 weeks until I got to my rheumy. I was in such bad shape, I couldn't believe it. Once I connected with him and found my " cocktail " , methotrexate and pred at the time, only mtx now, things turned around again. I'm not as perfect as I used to be but I'm pretty close. I do everything I want to. I am very appreciative of that too. At the time that this happened to me, yes, I was sad but mostly I was thankful that it wasn't any of the really horrible diseases out there. I can deal with RA, it's just my cross in life, that's how I look at it. I also try not to complain because frankly, no one really wants to hear it, so many are dealing with their own problems. I'm telling you this because I don't want you to give up on your dream. Get to a rheumy and give it a little time before you throw in the towel. You may be surprised, I hope you are. in PA On Tue, Aug 3, 2010 at 9:46 PM, phylliscrubaugh <phylliscrubaugh@...>wrote: > > > Hello all- > > My name is and I have recently been diagnosed with RA. Guest guest
I can relate to your plight. In 1985, I decided that we would build a fruit and berry farm as a retirement business. I spent almost $40,000 on plants and irrigation, only to be stricken with RA and getting laid off a job of 20 years because " everyone had arthritis " . Now I offer the berries on the freecycle group so they don't go to waste completely, and all the trees are dead. It seems to only get worse.... No, it's not really that bad, it only seems that way sometimes. Guest guest
I'm sorry that you've having such a hard time. Hopefully it will get better for you. I'm on Enbrel, and it's working very well for me. I can't even tell I have RA, because the pain is gone. Hopefully your rheumy will find a med or combination of meds that will enable you to keep working on your goat dairy. I believe there might be a connection between smoking and RA. I was a heavy smoker for over 30 years, and that may have been the trigger for my RA. , our moderator, has posted articles on this.
