What was the dose, how often did you give it, how much does he weigh,

and do you know his plasma cysteine?

Tina,

I think most supplements have that warning unless they are formulated

for children, and most supplements can be bad if taken in large amounts.

What are you needing just vitamin C for? There are lots of good

childrens supplements that would cover all the bases.

If you get up to toomuch Vitamin C she will gets the squits, no worries. I

use Twinlabs Allergy C (which is amde from Sago Palm not corn) from iherb.com.

I empty a little bit of a copsule into every drink, chelating or not

HTH

Mandi in UK

I was told that you need to supplement with Vit C three times a day

when you chelate. Correct me if I am wrong because I would hate to

overkill my duaghter with vitamins that are not needed. She already

gets 180mg Vit C a day in her Nu Thera with p5p.

We use Beyond C, by Longevity Plus.

The label reads: " Suggested Use: Adults 1 to 4 teaspoons daily in

juice or water. For imbalances, one tsp every one to six hours.

Children under 10 years of age, 1/4 tsp per year of age daily.

1 slightly rounded teaspoon (6.5 grams)contains:

Vitamin C (L-Ascorbate C crystals with FASM) 4000 mg

GMS-Ribose 2000 mg

Some health food stores carry it, but you can also purchase it

online. Here's a link for more info:

If that is what has been suggested by the doctor then he probably knows

what is best. I have chelated naturally and I did use antioxidant which

is really high in a form of Vitamin C from the australian bush plum.

Highest source of Vit. C that they know of. Check with doctor on the

extra amount she will need

Andy even recommends four times a day.

I use a buffered vit C for my almost 4 yo, 250 mg 4x day, so that is

1 gram per day.

Some find it best to avoid the ones made from corn, prefering those from sago

For colds and flu, I use olive leaf extract.

Bizarrely enough, vitamin C is not just for immune system. My son is

down to two supplements. EFAs [which I might remove soon], and

vitamin C. Watching the vitamin C wear off is identical to watching

the B1 wear off last year. Return of visual stims, oppositional

behaviors, loss of language etc. He is up to 15 GRAMS of vitamin C

every day, without any bowel problems.

Anyway, I use plain ascorbic acid crystals, which works better for my

son than the other forms I tried. But if your child does not tolerate

corn, you want to find something like TwinLab Allergy C, which is not

made from corn. Most commercial vitamin C is made from corn.

I just started using this myself and I swear I feel clear-headed after

it. I put a half-teaspoon in a glass and add a little water, it

bubbles up and tastes a little lemony. It's got mag, calcium, and

potassium, all carbonate forms, as well as C. Does anyone know

advantages/disadvantages of carbonates?

Dana,

Why would you consider removing EFAs? That is the one supplement I

will probably keep forever.

We use HealthForce Nutritionals Vitamin C. It is derived from

cherries. I think you can get them on-line. They are out of

Escondido, CA.

Clear-headed you say??? Sign me up! Just kidding, actually that is great.

Does that mean it is being absorbed well? Is the flavor really tart? I have

been looking for one my kids will take. Thanks,

Because once my son no longer needs something, he tends to regress if

I keep it. This also happened with probiotics.

I will probably keep EFAs on my " once a week or so " list of things to

arbitrarily give him when the mood strikes.

For me I have been trying different EFA's since my late 20's/

I always feel there is a level to the amount you need to take. My body

seems to tell me. Just like Dana mentions that she noticed signs of

regression. In adults we will feel different one way or another and make

a quick connection. Parents can't feel these changes in their childrens

bodies until it seems to show up with their personality changing.

When I found I did best on EFA and DHA, I could take them daily for

two months straight. Then I felt a change and stopped taking it.

Afterwards it seemed my body demanded a new supply once a week

for 1 month. I lost track how many months I did this, but now I don't

have a need for them, (Judging by my symptoms). I do believe our

body does store EFA's and you can over-do it. Then there are people

that are not absorbing them at all and need to take them every day.

Liz,

I too, felt once I got to my limit, my eyes would actually have a

burning feeling in them. My son also doing great on them for months

and months all of a sudden had major problems with Proefa, we do not

use them for him anymore, he doesn't need them, I do give it one day

a week, seems all he can take of it, any more, we loose ground. His

physical symptoms of having a need for them is gone, the skin,

thirst, etc. So you are not alone there,'

Thanks for telling me this. You know , come to think of it, most

supplements I have

taken seem to run a course of two months straight before I feel

jambed up from them. I wonder if this is a general time period

for most people. Or a large group of people. I did this with zinc.

And many amino acids. Same time frame, two months. Then

off and on as needed. It is good to know there could be a time

scale to avoid oversupplmenting your children. You just don't

know because they are too young.

I use a Vitamin C product called Vitality C which can be ordered at

1-888-848-2548 or visit website _http://www.888vitality.com_

(http://www.888vitality.com) there is little information on website but my

general MD recommend it.

The label states as follows:

" Vitamin C ( L-ascorbate C crystals with FASM) 4000 mg & GMS Ribose 2000

mg. It comes in a powder and is mixed with water or juice. The label also

states: " Each serving of Vitality C L-Ascorbate C crystals has been

further enhanced with 2000 mg of GMS-Ribose for increased bioviability.

Preliminary double blind human trails of one or more of the ingredients of

GMS-Ribose taken with Vitamin C have been shown to enhance the uptake of

Vitamin C plasma levels 30% or more overe that of subjects on placebo. Finally,

a

pleasant tasting wonderfully theraeutic, non-acidic neutral PH, high potency

Vitamin C drink. "

I'm curious why the oncologist wants me to discontinue use of a Vitamin C

product and only take a multi-vitamin during chemotherapy treatment,

especially since one of the other doctors in the oncology office recommends

JuicePlus

products. The plan is for concurrent chemo (5FU) with radiation.

Anyone have any idea why they would want me to discontinue most supplements

during treatment??

With Vitamin C such an important part of many Cancer protocols it might be

informative for you to let everyone know what the dosage was that 'put you

in the hospital'.

Many people take, orally, from 10 to 35 grams and those doing IV Vitamin C

are using upwards of !00 grams (100,000 mgs) at a time. Additionally it

might be useful to know the type of Vitamin C you were using.

Most vitamin C is made from corn. The hives sounds like you might

have a corn intolerance issue. What happens when you try vitamin C

that is made from something other than corn?
