Guest guest
Hi Carol; I feel for you. Prednisone, Tylenol, and ibuprofen are all cheap. Prednisone needs a prescription. However it is only like $10.00 a month These are only some suggestions. ________________________________ From: cloudcoral <cloudcoral@...> Sent: Wednesday, September 9, 2009 10:55:46 AM Subject: [ ] Feeling yucky all of the time Hi everyone, have had RA for 3 years now. I am without insurance so therefor am not taking anything for it. Does anyone have any suggestions on something that will help over the counter. Guest guest
Coral, Many DMARDs can be obtained through the manufacturers for free or for reduced cost. It's worth seeing if you qualify. http://www.pparx.org/ http://www.rxassist.org/ http://www.needymeds.org/ Not an MD On Wed, Sep 9, 2009 at 9:55 AM, cloudcoral<cloudcoral@...> wrote: > Hi everyone, > have had RA for 3 years now. Guest guest
Hi Coral: Welcome to our wonderful group. Nice to meet you. Is your MTX in pill form or do you self inject. it? I started with the pills, but they made me so sick to my stomach 24/7, that I switched to the injection form. This has worked wonderfully for me. I take my shot each Thurs. night, and I have a slight nausea that night. Then 12 hours later, I take 2 Leucovorin pills. I have no more nausea at all. My Rheumy taught me how to inject myself. I was really afraid to do this, but it doesn't hurt. The needle is very fine and you never feel it, nor does the site bleed. I have been doing this for almost 6 years. I have been on daily use of Prednisone for 6 1/2 years. It has been a miracle drug for me. I take 10 mg. a day. I will cut down to 5 mg. a day, as that was my orig. dose. Are you seeing a Rheumy? If so, are you happy with that dr.? I am wishing you many pain free days ahead. Hugs, Barbara > > Hi everyone, > have had RA for 3 years now. Guest guest
Hi Coral - Have you tried Tylenol arthritis? Some people get relief from those types of OTC pain relievers. Now, I happen to take fish oil capsules - (the no fish taste kind) - I get them at Sam's but you can find them other places as well. I was originally taking the recommended dose on the bottle for lowering my cholestrol (I didn't want to go on a RX for it) and when I mentioned that to my RA doc, he said that he's had several RA patients that swear that it helps with inflammation but at a higher dose and he wanted me to try it. I take 10,000 IU (try to!!) each day. But - BUT if you try something like that - when and if you go to any doctor or any hospital, it does make your blood thinner and you need to make sure that you tell them what you are taking and how much. I would suggest maybe 5,000 IU to start out with. It took about 3 mos or so for me to see a difference. It wasn't a whole for me but it doesn't hurt to give it a try. I also use thermacare heat wraps @ night on my shoulders - the neck size - they last about 12 hours for me and work pretty well. Walmart has them about the cheapest of anywhere that I've found and you can go on the thermacare website and print out coupons. Good luck and please keep us posted! in SC From: cloudcoral <cloudcoral@...> Subject: [ ] Feeling yucky all of the time Date: Wednesday, September 9, 2009, 10:55 AM Hi everyone, have had RA for 3 years now.
