Guest guest
Hi everyone. I've been seeing an orthopaedic specialist lately who is fascinated with my clunking hips. He even asked me to a meeting with ten other orthopaedists who had turns feeling them go in and out. Well they felt the hips were dislocating (that's what they sound and feel like) but x-rays and an MRI have been completely normal. Now he wants to do a bursagram next Tuesday and I have to have dye injected into the hip and then a series of x-rays to see if it is just a tendon " that needs releasing " causing the instability and noise. I am quite dubious about this test and would like to know if anyone else has had it done and what side effects they had. I don't want to get any worse than I already am and an injection into bone isn't my idea of a pleasant way to spend the morning! ) Thanks. Guest guest
Hi Jen! OUCH! Actually, I have had dye injected into joint spaces for this purpose and it's gone well for me personally. Dye is not injected into bone, know that though, it's put into the joint to help reveal structures. If you are concerned though, do talk to the doctor a bit more about it - as always, the benefits of any test must be weighed against the negatives here. Jill Bursagram Hi everyone. Guest guest
Thanks for your opinion Jill. I don't think there is much benefit to me of having the test to be honest- I have a feeling it is to satisfy the orthopaedic surgeon's curiosity more than anything. I'm not a happy camper. Oh well there must be some chocolate somewhere in this house................... Jen
Guest guest
Hi Jen, You have thought this over long and hard I am sure - this is a decision that you have to be comfortable with in the end, always listen to your heart!
