Guest guest
A Recovering Perfectionist. And I have a feeling a lot of us on this site battle this more than we know. I think so many of my issues with food come from a desire to " know it all " and to be " perfect " at eating (left brain hemisphere thinking). So when I have had what I perceived as in indiscretion the little nasty negative voices come out and tell me that if I can't do it right all the time, then I just can't do it (the " it " can be just about any life circumstance by the way) at all and therefore wrong and unworthy. The kicker is that perfectionism and eating disorders that keep one " skinny " are socially supported diseases. People applaud people for being seemingly perfect especially when it comes to eating and one's body. A large part of my discovery with IE and also with recovery from anxiety that I cope with is this perfectionist voice and thinking.
