OKD,

It's generally accepted that folic acid decreases MTX efficacy, but to

what extent is still being debated. Some rheumatologists recommend

avoiding folic acid on the day MTX is taken.

Some people take more than 20 mg of MTX per week.

Switching to MTX injections should help (usually much higher

bioavailability compared to the oral route).

anyways.  I told her I was loosing my hair, so she made me go down to 4 MTX

pills, after 2 weeks I felt the inflamm go sky high and I put myself back on the

8 MTX a month ago...I go back to her, and asked her to take my blood and see

whats up, and I got these results:

Thanks. Do you think the inflamm levels are still to high at 11.8? What about

the RDW?

I feel better since i was a little anemic. I am also going to not take the

folic on MTX day, since I am lready up to 18.5 mg of MTX.

Thanks

What are the reference ranges for the CRP and RDW at your lab, OKD?

CRP range here is 1-3 s normal, so on appearances 11.4 would be high, but I read

here someone had 80, so that is really ouch!

on the RDW I am not sure, all I know is 16.1 is anemic, so they prescribed folic

acid daily instead of lecovorin.

I am not taking it on MTX day to see if that makes a diff....

OKD,

That CRP is high.

I hope your new rheumatologist will be a good one, and that you'll be

seeing some improvement very soon.
