Hi Sue,

I wish so much I could stay on the enbrel. I've heard that insurance

companies are cracking down on expensive meds so guess I'm one of the

unlucky ones. When hubby changed jobs, we made sure that the insurance was

BC/BS because we knew that would cover my meds. What they didn't tell him

was my prescriptions were through Express Scripts and they no longer cover

the injectable meds due to the cost.

The infusions according to the paperwork can be a half hour to 2 hours so I

m not too happy about that. I talked to my GP and she said she would do it

in her office for me with my Rheumy's permission. That would only be 15

minutes to drive. So, believe me, I'll be pushing for that.

Hugs To You

Shay

Shay, it's too bad that you can't stay on Enbrel. It must be

frustrating to have your insurance company, rather than your doctor,

deciding your medical care. It seems that maybe your doctor has

figured a way to get around the insurance by giving Humira as an

infusion, which they will pay for.

I agree that Enbrel and Humira are similar. Both of them are tumor

necrosis antagonists. Hopefully, the Humira will help you as much as

the Enbrel did. It's too bad that you'll have to drive so much. How

often do you have to have infusions of Humira? Maybe it won't be very

often.

I wish you luck, and please keep us informed.

Hi Shay:

I was happy to read that your GP might give you the shot in her office.

I don't see why your Rheumy wouldn't agree with that plan. A 15 min.

ride will be a piece of cake for you. Hope all goes well for you.

Hugs,

Barbara

I've been paying $150 for a 102-day supply of Enbrel. My insurance

company is cracking down, too, and before long I'll have to pay 25% of

the cost up to $100 for a 30-day supply. Since Enbrel is so expensive,

I'm sure I'll have to pay $100.
