I read about the Mom from PA too.....wish I could join Leah in that one! How

asinine can the school districts be?

Sara...WOW!!! I guess that's how asinine they can be!

Welcome back Donna! Seth is always the best one on our trips too. He's

always the one I worry about, but always turns out to be the one I wasted my

worry on! LOL Glad you're home safe and sound.

Kara..So sad about your dog. :-( Sorry (((hugs))) We just took our

Mastiff to the shelter this summer. It's still hard. Guess on me more than

anyone else! LOL Just found one of his toys in the yard today and sat down

and cried.

Nothing to do with our special kids, but I don't know if anyone has heard

about the extremely high rate of cancer at our high school here. It's been

on the Today show and a few others. Lots of kids dying here and my daughter

told me tonight that her Dr. wants to do a biopsy on her. She is very scared

and needs lots of prayers. Hope you can spend a minute to ask God to watch

over all these kids here. Another Asinine move of the district to save money

and build our school in a red zone! Got the land for $1.00....What a bargain

huh ! ? !

Thanks Donna,

Well, today they just said no athletics on the field because there are ponds

there that don't freeze in sub-zero temps. They say that the school is safe,

though there are over 40 kids with cancer. My girlfriend's son is one of the

walking dead, as his body is filled with cancer, there is no hope for Joe.

Others have been responding to treatment and some are in remission. Sadly, a

few have died. From what I am hearing, homeschooling numbers have raised

greatly! This is the kind of school district I live in and why I homeschool

my kids. The pres. of the school board is also the pres. of the health

board. This issue has been nationally televised and Elmira will be a ghost

town by the time all these lawsuits come in. The district did agree to send

out questionnaires to all past students to find out how many have (had)

cancer. The school is only about 8 years old or so. Thanks for the hugs.

It's hard not to get really angry over needless suffering like this.

Thanks Pat. :-) Would break your heart to look into these kids eyes. This

is the truth....I feel very fortunate to deal with Seth's Autism, Down

Syndrome, PICA, and heart problems! Nothing fatal and in fact, nothing even

sad. He's alive, well and happy. I want nothing more than that.

Hi Gail,

Just read some of the posts and was shocked to read yours. I sure hope your

daughters biopsy turns out okay. It sounds like another real life

Brockivich story. Our prayers and thoughts are with

,

Who is Brockivich? Thanks for the hugs! You guys ever notice how much

those hugs really mean? I used to laugh thinking, what good is the word

" hugs " just typed out. Strange, but when they are directed to you, they

really do feel comforting. Maybe it's the (( )) that does it! LOL I'm

going to have to get tough because she is too scared to go to the doctors.

I'm hoping after the holiday she will be calm enough to reason with and let

me call for her. It must be so scary for her. Thanks for the prayers, and

the ((((hugs))))

Gail,

Brockavich was a movie based on a true story, with , about

a group of people living in a town where lots of people were developing

cancer living near this industrial plant. I just watched it the other night.

It made me angry hearing about this district buying this contaminated land

and building a school on it, not caring about anything or anyones health,

just to save a buck. This movie shows how callus and uncaring people can be

when there's big money involved. Wishing your family good health.

Hi Donna!!

I look forward to starting the Ripped Rotation. It's hard to believe September is almost here. I still haven't tried Ripped To The Core yet, I can't wait to do it.

Sunday I will start the same....cardio, abs and yoga. Hopefully I can get them all in. Sunday's are busy, but I will see what I can do.

My stryker bed had another bed ion top that was bolted down on top of you to turn you over, I felt like a sandwich in between two boards about the size of an iron board. Then two people just flipped you over and removed the board on top--It was great--loved it.

Hello everyone. I haven't been very good at keeping up with posts but need to respond to some recent messages. I hope the FDA doesn't restrict pain meds. I agree with Elaine and have experienced the humiliation at drs. offices when you tell them you are in pain and they want to prescribe an anti-inflamatory which does no good at all. I'm lucky to have an excellent pain management doc who monitors my meds and constantly reassures me that I am taking them appropriately. On a lighter note, I too remember the Stryker beds. I never had to use one but several kids did when I was in the "crippled children's hospital". They were mostly used by quadraplegics. I was turned with sheets and the nurses were not very helpful. They didn't care how much I hurt. , like you I was in the women's surgical area when I was 13. My doc told me and my parents that they had a new area in pediatrics just for teenagers but my mother insisted I be in with

the women.Since I was so young, I was somewhat of a curiosity on the floor.., I am sorry for your fall and am glad it wasn't more serious. I have fallen and cannot get up by myself. Scary!

I'm so glad you found your way to a decent doc who is equipped to treat your

pain. We should probably be sending all our stories to the FDA, if not to the

President!

I take it you were on the women's unit in a different hospital from the original

chldren's hospital? This is not really " here nor there, " but I am curious to

know why your mother did not want you with the kids . . .?

Best,

It sounds as if you were fortunate enough to experience this when you were not

in much pain! I think you are the first person to write about this who had fun

being turned.

I remember the cot clamped down on top of me as part of the Circo-Electric

experience. You got flipped back and forth between the two beds.

I have pictures of this bed and I remember that after surgery like I always have and continue to this day have to sleep on my stomach. The nurses tried to rig up the band that held my head up with a pillow so that I could have a comfortable spot to lay my head and not lose the pillow in the night.. Dr Hall could not believe that I could sleep that way. I even had to figure a way of supporting myself when I came home with the cast on-my dad put pillows under me around the shoulder area and my head so I could sleep on my stomach.

Hi friends,

I haven't been feeling well. The seasonal flu is going around, and I believe

thats what I have. My youngest daughter was ill first, and then I caught it, of

course.

I'm also flaring big time, with all the stress in my life right now. I'm not

sure its going to settle down anytime soon.

My PC got fixed yesterday. The storm zapped it out,lol So, I'm going to try to

be here a little more. Sorry being AWOL, but here I am.

I hope everyone is doing ok, and in less pain. Its always a struggle, but we

just have to do the best with what we have to work with.

You all have a bless day,

Tawny,

Welcome back. I miss your input.

The flu is horrid.  Are you getting flu shots this year?.

they just became available here. I have had the shots annually for 20 years.

This year I am fearful.

Does anyone have opinions to share?
