Guest guest
Joanne, The temporary disability (At least in California) is generally only for a few months at a time - it is not a big deal - they simply send you a form your doctor fills out (or sometimes one you fill out) and it continues. Just make sure you send in the form as soon as they send it to you so your next check isn't delayed. Because it is temporary - they don't generally approve it for more than a few months at a time. But you don't have to go through the whole approval process again. from California > > I totally sympathize. I was let go from my job because I had repeated back pain flare-ups. Then I got unemployment. Then I finally just got a notice about temporary state disability insurance but I am totally confused by it because it appears that it ends in December - so it's only for four months. Meanwhile, I get a letter from EDD saying I no longer qualify for unemployment, which I understand...and then a week later a letter from a different EDD department saying I have to go for a mandatory interview for my " continued claim form " ???? > > I also am troubled by this new symptom: my right ribs hurt - It hurts to take a deep breathe, or cough, or lift anything heavy, or stretch. Guest guest
Hi Joanne, I have had RA for close to 20 years, and I believe in my chiropractor more than any drug or rheumatologist. I have always found the quickest and most relief from getting my spine adjusted. I see my chiropractor  as often as I can.  Usually 3 - 4 times a week. I can tell when my ribs are out, or my lower back is twisted, or my neck is crammed down into my shoulders. And when i have flares and nodules in my shoulders, he uses a little device called an activator that dissolves (for lack of a better word) the inflamed nodules. I can feel the release all the way down to my finger tips.  I realize there may not be chiropractors like mine, but I can honestly say I have never met a more professional, compassionate, reliable doctor than my chiropractor and his staff. Where do you live? I would ask my chiropractor if he could recommend someone in your area. Take care, (musiclvr3237)  From: Joanne <jo_wh@...> Subject: [ ] frustration - me too! and rib pain??? Date: Thursday, August 26, 2010, 1:28 PM  I totally sympathize. Guest guest
I do not know the true facts on this but I was under the impression that people with RA should not be using a chiropractor. Not a big fan of them myself, yes I have gone to a few many years ago but I do know some people who swear by them, not RA patients though. in PA On Mon, Aug 30, 2010 at 2:02 PM, (musiclvr) <musiclvr3237@...>wrote: > > > Hi Joanne, > I have had RA for close to 20 years, and I believe in my chiropractor more > than any drug or rheumatologist. Guest guest
I am sure most people who see rheumatologists are told not to seek chiropractic care. The last two rheumatologists, as well as my current one have told me to stop seeing mine. But to each their own, I guess. I would fire my rheumatologist before I would think of leaving my chiropractor. I am also quite sure that most doctors do not like chiropractors as chiropractice care is a more natural cure than using perscriptions. My apologizes if I have offended anyone's beliefs. Guest guest
, Chiropractic manipulation of the joints and cervical spine in a person with rheumatoid arthritis can cause damage. Manipulation of the cervical spine in a person with rheumatoid arthritis can be dangerous. There is nothing natural about high-velocity manipulation of your spine - and it's certainly not a cure. Guest guest
: You took the words right out of my mouth! I DO believe spinal manipulation, much like massage therapy is a temporary measure for relief, but ultimately it may cause more damage than its worth.... Guest guest
,  You are absolutely correct. I apologize for using the word " cure " . It is not a cure. But it is not a " manipulation " of the spine either. It is an " adjustment " .  To manipulate the cervical spine would be to move, arrange or to manage shrewdly or deviously, or to tamper with or falsify it. Chiropractors adjust the cervical spine. They move it to make it fit and make it work correctly. They settle the spine and arrange it to free it from differences or descrepancies.  Medical doctors have chosen to use the word maniuplation for their benefit, but in reality, prescription drugs are more manipulating than adjusting. Everyone is going to believe what they want, but for me, I do not feel bad for those with RA who do not seek chiropractic help. They are just brain washed by MD's and will probably take dozens of pills a day only to find they are still in pain plus have internal problems as well. As far as " natural " . Adjusting the spine to help it function the way it is suppose to is far more natural than any man-made drug I am taking.
