Guest guest
Hi Autumn I use to live in Austin and got free specialty care at the Brackenridge hospital clinic. Applying is kinda complicated, your boyfriend will have to apply for a medical assistance card through the county health department. Their phone number is 512-978-9130. After he's approved for the card he'll have to make an appointment at one of the 17 primary clinics run by CommUnityCare.org, he could also call them at 512-978-9015. The primary doctor will give him a referral to the specialty clinic at Brackenridge, the referral process takes a month or two, so possibly the primary will be able to start him on some mild meds, I know they don't do tnf-inhibitors at that level. I loved the care I received there, but moved out of the county, to where the rent is cheaper in the suburbs. The whole process is very slow, but is well worth the wait. Please, let us know what happens. ' In a rather strange twist of fate, my boyfriend was recently diagnosed with RA... He doesn't have insurance, and is currently unemployed... Is anyone in the Austin TX area? Do you texans (or anyone else) know of any assistance programs that can help him see a rheumy? I can help him w getting meds for free or cheap, but he can't even find a rheumy that will accept him as a patient so that he can get prescriptions.'
