Guest guest
Hi , I am 33 and was dx'd with RA 11 years ago when I was 22. I have been on Remicade since March 2000 without any problems (Centocor says I'm one of the longest successful patients.) I see the rheumy for about 10 minutes before each infusion. I take Benadryl & Tylenol at least 30 minutes before my infusion to prevent an allergic reaction. Then the nurse takes my blood and gives me my infusion. Your first infusion is a slow drip to monitor your reaction so it could take close to 3 hours. My infusion takes about 1.30 hours. I sit in a comfy chair. The nurse gives me a blanket & pillow and I take a nap. When I'm done, my hubby drives me home then I take another short nap (yeah Benadryl) then I'm fine. Take care, Steph in VA ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ How long do you go for? How often do you go? Are you sitting in a comfortable chair? How do you feel after the infusion? Also, if anyone has any advice about a newbie starting Remicade that would be great. Thanks to all, , 32 from WA state
