Guest guest
Hi Kate, I was on Enbrel for 3 years and it worked so wonderful for me but my husband changed jobs and the insurance covers everything EXCEPT enbrel. The insurance company covers no injectable med as they say it's too expensive so I'm having to go to Remicade, Humira, or Orencia and to be honest I'm scared to death to try them. I have terrible side effects and it has been a battle this past 7 years finding something that will work without those side effects. I have learned a lot from this group but don't seem to be finding what I'm searching for which is people who are on these particular drugs and how it has affected them. Thank you for getting back to me. Wishing you pain free days Shay, Michigan -- [ ] Question (one last time) Please, if anyone in this group is on Humira or Orencia, could you please tell me if you have had problems with it/them or any bad side effects? I have asked and asked and no one will answer me. I don't know if I'm not getting any answer because no one knows me because I'm new to the group but I am unfamiliar with these drugs and although all drugs work differently with everyone, I would just like to know how it has affected anyone here. I see everyone else asking questions and getting their answers, yet no one will answer mine. (Maybe I should join a different group?) Guest guest
Hi Shay, many consider Enbrel and Humira to be on the same tier. What kind of side effects did you have from Enbrel? If you did ok on Enbrel, I would imagine they would put you on an injectable like Humira before doing an infusion drug. ________________________________ From: Shay <sweetnsassy55@...> Sent: Friday, April 10, 2009 10:39:47 AM Subject: Re: [ ] Kate Question (one last time) Hi Kate, I was on Enbrel for 3 years and it worked so wonderful for me but my husband changed jobs and the insurance covers everything EXCEPT enbrel. Guest guest
Hi Kate, That's the problem, though, I can't have injectables because the insurance won't cover them. Oh how I wish it would because I could stay on my enbrel. I had no side effects with the enbrel and was so happy with it. It's good to hear that many consider enbrel and Humira to be close. I am dreading the infusions because that means driving so much and I don't do well driving long distances. That is painful. Guest guest
I honestly don't know. Guest guest
Nah, I doubt it. Sounds like you might be in good shape after all! ________________________________ From: Shay <sweetnsassy55@...> Sent: Friday, April 10, 2009 12:14:48 PM Subject: Re: [ ] Kate Question (one last time) I honestly don't know. Guest guest
Shay, it's too bad that you can't stay on Enbrel. It must be frustrating to have your insurance company, rather than your doctor, deciding your medical care. It seems that maybe your doctor has figured a way to get around the insurance by giving Humira as an infusion, which they will pay for. I agree that Enbrel and Humira are similar. Both of them are tumor necrosis antagonists. Hopefully, the Humira will help you as much as the Enbrel did. It's too bad that you'll have to drive so much. How often do you have to have infusions of Humira? Maybe it won't be very often. I wish you luck, and please keep us informed. Guest guest
i am confused humira is an injectable like enbrel. if they will give you humira why not enbrel. can't your rheumy intervene? or you could get enliven to talk to your ins co. sometimes they can intervene. monique
Guest guest
I am as confused as you are Hun. I just know that at first we were told that our insurance would no longer cover the Enbrel due to the cost and that enbrel was the ONLY drug it would not cover. Then talking with Express Scripts, we were told that NO injectables were covered due to the cost. My Rheumy is the one who called me and told me that we had to get me on something else right away and she mentioned Humira and Orencia. Could she have misspoken when she said Humira? She very well could have. I go to see her on the 22nd of this month so I will find out more then. I'm with you, it makes no sense to me.
