Guest guest
Shay, It may help to be very specific in your subject line (like " Question about Orencia " or " Has anyone tried Orencia? " ). There has been a lot of mail lately. Sometimes people just scan and may not have read your question. Also, not as many people in the group have tried Orencia compared to the anti-TNF biologics. Lots have experience with Humira. Guest guest
Shay, Please do not leave the group. I don't talk much here, mostly because my job and this disease keeps me so busy, but every member here does care. Honest. I am on Humira and have not experienced any of the awful side effects they list. I do usually have a pretty intense headache the following day, and soreness and or swelling at the injection site, I use the pen, but other than that I am fine with Humira. As you can see by my post before this one I am not the greatest yet health wise, still looking for that mix of meds that will be my safety net, but I am better than I was six months ago. Guest guest
Hi Shay, I second the others urgings not to leave the group. Often people miss emails b/c they go to their Spam folder or else it's just a busy week. You'll find this group to be a great source of info and support. I haven't taken either of the drugs you mentioned. I've been on Enbrel since my diagnosis and it works like a charm. I'm waiting for my weekly dose to warm up as I type this. Very best wishes, Kate F ________________________________ From: Shay <sweetnsassy55@...> Sent: Friday, April 10, 2009 7:49:31 AM Subject: [ ] Question (one last time) Please, if anyone in this group is on Humira or Orencia, could you please tell me if you have had problems with it/them or any bad side effects? I have asked and asked and no one will answer me. I don't know if I'm not getting any answer because no one knows me because I'm new to the group but I am unfamiliar with these drugs and although all drugs work differently with everyone, I would just like to know how it has affected anyone here. I see everyone else asking questions and getting their answers, yet no one will answer mine. (Maybe I should join a different group?) Guest guest
Hi Shay: I am not on any of those drugs, but just wanted to say hello to you. This is a terrific group of members here, and they will answer your questions. They are very well informed here, and we all suffer with these auto-immune diseases. Everyone here cares about our members, and do try to help out any way they can. You would be foolish not to stay in our group. I have enjoyed being a member here, and I get great support, help, etc. from everyone. I am very thankful I found this support group. I have made many friends here, but some of us don't write often. But almost everyone reads the posts each day. You will find your answers here, it just might take some time. Wishing you pain free days ahead. Guest guest
Shay, I was on Humira and it didn't work for me, I didn't have side effects from it. It just didn't work, and I am now waiting to see if the Insurance Co will OK Orencia. Great group of people here so I hope that you stay. I am new here also. Guest guest
I've been on Humira for almost two years. I have no side effects from it, other than a little bit of burning for about 5 seconds when I inject it. I have become more susceptible to colds and viruses and when I do get sick, I get sicker than I used to before treatment. But Humira has really helped me a great deal and really helped me to get quite a bit better. I'm nowhere near 100%, and now that I have Fibromyalgia I really doubt I'll ever get there, but I'm really grateful that I have access to a drug like Humira that helps so much. I also have to take Methotrexate, which I do have side effects from, but I'm at least able to get through my day and care for my children and DH. Guest guest
Hi, Shay. I am on Orencia. For a few months we didn't think it was working but last month my Rheumy took me off MTX and folic acid to instead put me on Arava. The Orencia was helping but not enough to satisfy my Dr. For some reason MTX didn't like me anymore. I've not heard much good about Arava but, for me, it is working like a charm! It has squashed what little immune system I had and now the Orencia is taking care of business! My hands still hurt but I don't expect to be pain-free. I've heard good things about Humira, too. In my case I literally flipped a coin to decide which medication to start. To do all over again? I might start with Humira first just because the Orencia is so stinking expensive. I thought I'd answered your first posting about this topic so I offer you an apology. I never went back to see if my post had gone thru. Please stay here! I'm as guilty as the next about only reading the subject titles to see if I want to read it so I'm going to start taking more time to read them.
