Gosh, I feel such a comfort since participating in this listserve. We

all have a definite bond that not many parents understand (even other

parents of kids with autism that are not doing the diet). Thanks so much

for all the learning.

I feel good about doing the diet because it gives me some control in

Ian's treatment. I can't control the ABA, I can't control the speech

therapist or the OT. But, I can control what goes into his mouth. I am

finding that the diet is relatively easy, and I've been buying mostly

already prepared foods certified GFCF instead of doing a lot of home

baking. It probably isn't the best, but Pamela's or Frookie choc chip

cookies taste better than ones that I can make. I buy Food for Life

Bread and I also wanted to let everyone know that I found a great pasta

derived from lentil beans. The brand is:

Papadini Hi-Protein Pure Lentil Bean Pasta

The box states Gluten Free, Wheat Free, High Fiber, Low Fat

Made by: Adrienne's Gourmet Foods

Ian loves this pasta and it cooks fast and is verrrrrrrry similar to

wheat pasta. Yes, I am spending a little more on this stuff but I need

to lose a few pounds myself and have stopped buying all the regular junk

food in our house for the rest of the family to make up for what we need

to spend on Ian. (boy, we love our kids, don't we) I do have a couple

of other questions also.

1. Ian takes 3ml of paxil (very minimal dose) per day. It is the liquid

form. Is this GFCF?

2. I give him a " magic drink " in the evening containing all his

supplements mixed together. This is the only way he will take them --

believe me, I have tried it all. Is this not effective? If I don't do

it this way, he won't get any. Are they not being effectively absorbed?

(liquid dmg, liquid calcium, flax seed oil, snt, pycnogenol and

kidsoothe, serenaid).

3. I have removed corn for this week and will also next week. If I

don't see a difference in his loose stools or behavior, do I assume he is

okay with it? I will try the elimination of soy two weeks after that.

Thanks guys !!!! Your'e all my heroes--the most special Mom's and Dad's

on the entire earth--We are so blessed for these kids that teach us so

much about ourselves. Hang in there everybody!
