Sounds a lot like what happens to me every month or two. Comes on quickly, at times waking up with it. I call it a pinched or trapped nerve. I think it is something pressing on a nerve in a way that causes pain. It normally takes several days or more to clear. I normally use Ice for some temporary relief, sometimes use heat. I agree, most pills don't help, I think at least in my case it is due to it being nerve related, which often don't respond to the typical pain meds. Guest guest
Hi .     So sorry to read about your father and his upcoming surgery. I will pray for him that it is a complete success, and that he will feel better soon. I do know what it is like to worrying about our parents. I know you will be stressed out until he is home and doing better.    Glad you like your new job. It always helps when your boss understands when someone has a family emergency and you need to leave. I hope this job turns out to be just what you wanted.    Take care of yourself, and I will continue to say prayers for your father.  Hugs,  Barbara From: Massey <renandstimpy3@...> Subject: [ ] sorta a vent Date: Wednesday, September 1, 2010, 11:59 PM  I started my new job on tuesday and it seems to be going well. I am a case worker for adults with intellitual disabilities. I had a great day up until about 2:30 today. I got a phone call from my mom and my dad was in the hospital again. I immediately called my boss and explained the situation to him because i was suppose to be on my way to the office. Well, he said he understood and I promised to bring in a note. I got the note in my computer bag for tomorrow to take to him. I then went to the hospital to join my mom and as soon as I saw him I knew that it was his gall bladder again acting up and told my mom this time they are going to take it out. Tomorrow he has surgery. They took his blood and the machine that counts the white blood cells couldn't read it because it was greater then what the machine was programmed for. The doctor and the surgeon both came in and said that he has to have the procedure done 1st thing in the morning. The can't do it laproscopically because my father is a big guy and carries a big beer gut, makes him look like he is pregnant. Anyway, they are doing the surgery 1st thing in the morning, well I can't be there, I have to goto work. I am worried about it all. Please keep him in your thoughts and prayers please. This morning while brushing my hair I heard a loud pop from my upper spine right below my neck, my neck is now very stiff and hurts like hell. Whenever I raise my hand over my head it hurts worse and if I stop moving for more then about 10 mins it gets very stiff again. If anyone has any ideas on how I can soothe it let me know, not even my pain meds are working this time around for this one. in land
Guest guest
jennifer, so sorry to hear about your father, will be praying for him. and, for you , hon. this popping in the neck and spine area has happened to me before too. it does hurt, .... maybe for a couple days. my pain meds didn't help either. what seemed to help me the most was moist heat. wet a bath cloth as hot as you can stand it, andhold it on the neck. .. it feels sooo good.... take care, betty

Guest guest
they cancelled the surgery until tomorrow, his white blood cell count was still to high. Its around 2pm tomorrow and I still have to goto work though, but will be at his side as soon as I get out of work. Thank you everyone for your prayers and thoughts as well. in land Re: [ ] sorta a vent , I hope your father's surgery went well and that you're feeling better today.
