Guest guest
I too have restless legs. I notice it especially when I first get into bed. I have always rubbed my feet together when going to sleep. But now it's my legs. I rub my legs back and forth for about 15 minutes before going to sleep. I think it's because I'm so tired from having PA. My husband says I even rub my legs during my sleep. I haven't have had Restless Leg Syndrome diagnosed yet. I'm on so much medicine already. I hate to add one more to the bunch. I take clonazepam to help me sleep. My legs swell at times, due to retaining fluid. I take a blood pressure medicine with a diuretic to keep the swelling down. I hope things get better for you soon. Rhonda

Guest guest
I've had it for several years at night on and off. I have found that if I sleep on my hip too much or drink too much caffeine or do not drink enough water it happens. I've never taken medication for this nor do I want to. When it happens I keep trying to have my attendant reposition me several times and it does not work, but if I drink a little water it stops and I fall back asleep. I know this sounds weird but it works for me! Regards, Patti
Guest guest
Wow Maggie! Do you have me thinking tonight! I have many nights when I am plagued by restless leg syndrome and I deal with a chronic rash on my abdomen that drives me crazy. I never thought that it might be from salicylilates!!! Jane From: Maggie <maggieuig1@...>Subject: restless legssamters Date: Thursday, March 5, 2009, 6:37 PM hi all,I've been following a low sals diet since last summer with quite a lot of success. The one BIG drawback about it is the lack of fruit and veggies. I have reached the stage where I am craving them!!I therefor started to reintroduce some veggies this week - toms, cucumber, red pepper and broccoli. I thickly peeled the toms and cucs to try to minimise their effect but for the past 3 nights I have had terrible restless legs. I had this affliction before I went on low sals and was amazed that it returned with such a vengence so quickly. So far no asthma or rash.Has anyone else noticed this connection between high/low sals diet and restless legs syndrome?Welcome to all our new members - I know you will find lots of useful info here and support when you need it.Regards, Maggie

Guest guest
HI Jane and ie,my rash was always on my legs starting from the ankles and working up to my knees - never went anywhere else. I believe there are quite a few of us on here who have a similar rash. It totally went when I went on the low sals diet - within a couple of days.I have not had my blood tested recently but have never been anaemic in my life and I'm 57!! Next time I see my doctor I'll ask to be tested. Thanks for responding so quickly.Regards, Maggiesamters From: scottiesinboca@...Date: Thu, 5 Mar 2009 21:53:30 -0500Subject: Re: restless legs Maggie:have you been checked for anemia?Lsat year I suffered with RLS, horribly, until the figured out that the problem was really an absurdly low blood count.ieOn Mar 5, 2009, at 8:37 PM, Maggie wrote:hi all,I've been following a low sals diet since last summer with quite a lot of success. Guest guest
I have been checked and I am not anemic. What is strange is that I don't get the restless legs every night. But when I do, it's awful. Jane hi all,I've been following a low sals diet since last summer with quite a lot of success. The one BIG drawback about it is the lack of fruit and veggies. Guest guest
last night was bad for me-kept me awake till after 3:30am and I had to be up at 6:15!!I would fall asleep for a few minutes -max. 5 - and then jerk awake again. I was almost demented!! Guest guest
Yes. I have RLS--I've had it for several years, just like you. AND just like you I have recently begun to suffer from it during the day instead of just at night. I, too, take Requip, which was working just fine until this problem of RLS during the day. It's sooo annoying, isn't it? It has even happened to me while I'm riding in the car. It makes me want to open the door and get out--even while the car is driving down the street. But my daytime problem has been solved (I hope). I'm now taking the requip 3X day instead of just at bedtime. It has made all the difference. Pam restless legs Does anyone out there suffer from restless legs syndrome? I have for several years now but it usually happens at night. Lately mine hurt first thing in the morning and sometimes just about all day. Something is changing. It is just not at night anymore. Does anyone else have this problem? My dr. put me on Requip and it helped a lot until recently. I would appreciate any suggestions. Shirley Godbout
Guest guest
Dear Shirley and others, I do not know if I have restless legs per se, but I have a tremendous amount of numbness and tingling in my legs and feet; and when it gets real bad, lots of pain. I do not take medication. The only thing that has helped has been cranial-sacral therapy that “moves your head bones and pelvic bones” back into alignment. The massage therapist who specializes in this also does “massage” therapy on the “bottom/buttocks” because under all those “layers” of “fluff” there are nerves that go from the back down to the toes. When the muscles tighten up, swell, etc. they put pressure on the nerve which contributes to the symptoms mentioned above. It is funny to say that a “feel good massage” according to today’s standards work…but in essence the massage is not a “feel good” experience, but can be quite painful as the therapist works out these “kinks” and pressure points. Another thing that can trigger these symptoms for me is extended “sitting” and not being in a good sitting position. I hope my experience helps you in some manner. My cranial-sacral therapist/massage person also recommended sleeping with a very flat pillow and something small to elevate your knees. This helps me to when I can manage to stay on my back. Otherwise I put the small pillow/cushion between my knees when I lay on my side. Take care, Donna in Ohio
Guest guest
Yes I also get this but can't take anything for it and am glad that so many of you are finding meds that work for many of the Fibromyalgia symptoms. I wish you all the best at finding exactly what will work for you. Take care and I hope that you and your family are healthy, happy and having a great day, ey Godbout <prywarr@...> wrote: Does anyone out there suffer from restless legs syndrome? Guest guest
Too bad for myself that your massage therapist is in Ohio... haha! I have actually had the same exp. with massage and though it is painful I normally can get a couple of good weeks of relief out of it. Since moving however, I haven't found a new therapist and am wishing so much my old one was closer. Guest guest
It saved me. I went from horrible nights to sleep to being able to sleep through the night. I have had the restless leg since before being diagnosed with Ra but I still take it. It really makes a difference.
