Guest guest
I was very happy for you when I read your post today. It sure feels good, right? We just never know when these good days arrive or how long they will stay. It is like a breath of fresh air. I hope it continues for you. I am also glad you got some extra sleep. That is a big bonus!! Take care and I hope this lasts awhile for you.  Hugs,  Barbara
Guest guest
Very kind of you Ms. Barbara. Yes M'am it feels good. I cleaned and set up a fish tank today that had been waiting for months to be done. A small thing, but I have learned that forward progress should never be minimized. I hardly dropped anything today- I have been forgetting that my hands can't always do what my brain wants them to. It has been great. Thanks for your response. I don't want to just share the bad with y'all, but the good stuff too. Hugs------------------ Chris I was very happy for you when I read your post today. It sure feels good, right? I am almost scared to say it out loud. Maybe the Methotrexate and Mobic are finally kicking in? I feel near human. I also got like 4 hours of sleep instead of the what has become normal 2 hours. I am sure just sleeping better is part of it. The weather changes are good for me too, as I live in hot, humid SC. That is wonderful. Isn't it funny how much you can appreciate feeling good? It is weird to me to look back at my life and know that when I was younger almost every day felt like that, and now when those rare days come along that I have energy and no pain, it feels almost miraculous. I guess it gives us something to hope for and keep us going. J
Guest guest
Great to hear that, Chris! I hope the good days far outnumber the bad in the future. Guest guest
That's great -- I remember the first time I took prednisone and woke up the next morning feeling almost normal, it was like a miracle. I hope this works for you! In a message dated 9/8/2010 5:08:20 P.M. Eastern Daylight Time, phylliscrubaugh@... writes: Hey y'all! I have had 3 really good days back to back! Guest guest
Hi Chris.      How wonderful that you did set up your fish tank. They are so wonderful and I enjoy watching the fish. That's how I do things, in small segments. I set a mental plan for each day when I get up in the morning. If I get it all done great, if not, another day will be fine. I am just happy that I can get things done. More slowly with RA, but I am happy to accomplish anything!      Enjoy your fish tank!  Hugs,  Barbara  I was very happy for you when I read your post today. It sure feels good, right? We just never know when these good days arrive or how long they will stay. It is like a breath of fresh air. I hope it continues for you. I am also glad you got some extra sleep. That is a big bonus!! Guest guest
Actually, it's fishtank number 6. When I broke my back in '97, I had to ( obviously ) quit Karate and horseback riding and hiking. I surrounded my self with fishtanks so I could watch a whole new world unfold and enjoy a measure of Peace. Since the RA diagnosis- I have decided to breed Betta fish. Something new for me so I can concentrate on something other than my pain. Each tank represents a new physical issue ( I didn't even know that until I wrote it here ) and so with each major diagnosis- I have added one type. Hopefully, I'll never have more than 6-LOL! I have my reef tank, salt, freshwater planted, Cichlid, livebearer and now Betta. Whew! Things keep going in a physical direction- I'll have to open up an exhibit like Seaworld! Point is- to try to make something good from bad and not let pain & dispair take over. This pain will not win. I will make a new life and will live until I die. Otherwise, for me there would be no point in being here anymore. Sometimes, even small things like say- fishtanks are enough. What do you guys do to keep your life in emotional balance? For me, it's my critters and plants. in SC How wonderful that you did set up your fish tank. They are so wonderful and I enjoy watching the fish. That's how I do things, in small segments. Guest guest
Hi Love your approach. Personnally I sew and play with my puppies. Even if I don't feel like sewing, my dogs always want attention and they will come to me. All that unconditional love is like a giant hug. Guest guest
Hi - I'm glad you are feeling good and enjoying your fish tanks!!! I keep myself " sane " by running and I also make baskets out of pine needles! It really is therapeutic for me, and I love seeing what I can make out of a bunch of pine needles from the ground! Guest guest
Hi Chris: I have two turtles, red-earred sliders, they are getting HUGE now and require alot of attention in the tank, constant cleaning, live goldfish, cleaning filters. Sometimes it keeps me going. One day last year my middle daughter needed to move right away, she had 2 pitbulls and needed to leave one of them with me as her new place would only take one. At first I was upset (even though I love her (Naya). But i have come to realize, this dog was a god send. She makes me get up at 6:30 or 7:00 AM every morning (even on Sunday) to walk her, she actually wakes me up and then I have to walk her when I get home from work and then at 9PM at nite...this having to walk has really saved me from the " concrete stiffies " in the morning, after 20 minutes of walking, the stiffness is much better and i have a reason to walk. On Sundays we go to Central Park and walk around the lake, so naya gets exercise and me too. Never thought a dog would be my saviour, but she is.
