Thanks Pam -

Hopefully we'll know more soon... the dr. started me on Lasix in the hospital and that does seem to be helping the shortness of breath at least a little -- I'm just glad they are catching the valve issue now and not further down the road when the heart has been overworked for a longer time. Thanks for your thoughts and prayers -- needless to say, it has been somewhat stressful for our family, but we are trying to focus on the positive as much as possible.

Keep me posted on that valve, they just discovered a leaky valve on me also, I have no idea what that means. It seems I keep my head in sand a lot.

Hi -

Glad to hear you are feeling at least a teeny bit better -- you are right - a good night's sleep makes a lot of difference. My arrhythmia's have been pretty bad and wake me up most nights, but last night I tried some ambien and that seemed to help a lot -- at least I slept!

Yes, we are still in the countdown -- 2 weeks from today, actually -- May 21 -- sometimes it seems like an eternity away and other times I am nervous about how quickly it is approaching. LOL -- I'll be most glad when I wake up AFTER the surgery and know that all has gone well!

I'm sure all this illness has been tough on your kids -- that's hard for a mom to watch -- believe me, I know! You sound like you do a good job of staying "up" for them ,though, and it sounds like you still have many wonderful moments together. My daughter has already informed me that she wants to come with us on the morning of the surgery (we have to be there at 6 am - ugh!) because she wants to sing to me -- her grandmother taught her a song called "he is able" and she wants to sing it before the surgery -- too cute! Made me a little teary-eyed (course, that's not hard to do these days - LOL -- even the Maxwell house commercials make me cry. -- I think pre-surgery hormones are a lot like pregnacy! LOL)

Well, here's hoping that you have a good day with minimal coughing and lots of rest and that you are feeling better very soon.

Thinking of you --

ita in Ohio

PS - I'm actually up "scrapping" today, so that's a good thing!!

ita

ita,

Thanks for the caring and thoughts lately. I finally got some sleep last night....8 hours and a new me. I wish!!! At least my mental ability to deal with things is a little bit better. Illness and sleep deprivation can do terrible things to a mind. See....even my humor is improving.

How are you doing? Are you still doing the countdown? You know I will be thinking of you when the time comes and wishing for the best outcome. None of us deserve the rollercoaster ride that our lives have taken. The best we can do is hang on and try to have some fun before the ride is over. My wish is that I could take this part of the ride alone and not drag my kids along with me.....they truly are having a hard time. When I said that I was going to emergency last night you should have see their faces. But, I'm sure that you've been here too.

Take care and I will keep in touch when I am not sleeping or coughing....LOL

ita,

I wish we lived close....our lives seem to be closely related in the way things are and have been going.

I am so glad to hear that you are scrapping. I wish I could get myself to sit down and do it but right now either my creative juices are on hold or I don't feel well. Another thought I just had was that looking at my pics would be hard because they remind me of the times when I could be out there having fun. At one time with my daughters emotional troubles last year it was therapuitic to be able to work on her baby/toddler album. It reminded me of how cute, lovable and happy she was

Hi -

Yes, our lives certainly have taken some similar turns! It would be fun to live closer together. The farthest west that I have ever been was Minnesota -- my husband lived in CA (Whittier) for awhile before we were married. I still have great dreams of seeing the Grand Canyon someday.

I know what you mean about scrapbook motivation -- I haven't worked on my family books for awhile -- I think it's just the fact that my parent's 40th anniversary is soon approaching, so I'm really motivated to get this book done for them. I do have both a digital camera and a scanner, so we could share pages as you suggested. :) That would be fun.

Thanks for your encouraging thoughts ... I agree that if we've made it this far, this is just another step in the road. I remember hearing a song a long time ago something about "He hasn't brought us this far to let us fall..." or something to that effect. We have many people in our family, church, etc. (even across the country) praying for us and for the success of the surgery, so that is comforting. I am sure you can identify, but I think it's one of those things that if someone had approached me 2 months ago and told me up front everything that was going to happen, I'd have never thought I could handle it ... but as it is, it has happened step by step, and each time, you just rise to meet the new challenge. My husband's favorite thing to say is, "Someday ... we'll look back on all this... and we'll laugh and laugh and laugh... and we'll wonder how we ever made it through, but we'll be thankful that we did."

I hope you are having a good cough-free day and that you are still resting lots!

Thinking of you!

Hey there ita,

We have soemthing else in common. Grand Canyon was my dream too... I wanted

to go and stand on the ledge where the Brady Bunch did! LOLYes I think I

found that spot!I put my foot down last year and said enough of the same old

Florida vacation we are going on an adventure! We flew to Las Vegas...oh

what a cool place if you have never seen it. You gotta go there at least

once in your lifetime! One of my best friends from high school lives there

so that was fun to see her and her family. Then we rented a car and drove

to.... you got it GRAND CANYON! OH my it was unbelievable. I would just

stare and stare. We then left there and drove on to Denver to see my sister.

She moved there from Clearwater, Fla last spring. We drove up to the top of

Pikes Peak..Yikes that was scary! They made me drive it!!!But once up there

it was so awesome..nothing compares! My husband and son took of tour of the

Rockies stadium and of course went to a baseball game. We then flew home out

of Denver. It was the best vacation ever. My daughter disagrees with me, but

hey she is 14! SHe wants sun and beach. She did like Vegas, but that was

because of the video games and rides. You can find that anywhere!

Anyway you must go there..you will LOVE IT!

:)

Dearest Turk,

If there is a fair maiden on here who's heart yo have not yet won, they must

be made of stone. You know my senior prom turned out to be a disaster do to

my parents divorce and some other crap going on in my left. So I have

decided to host an Internet ICD Prom. I am nominating you as Prom King,

along with Bob and Bill. It will be beautiful. We must all plan this out

and have it at a wonderful place with wonderful goodies and fountains. We

must find fabulous dresses and flowers. What do you all say? We can dance

the night away. We can make our dream date and dance come to life.

OK so I am a little crazy OK I am a bunch crazy. It just might be fun

Hugs

Sharon

> Call your doctor. Any bodily function occurring without sensation or not

by will is not not not good. If this is related to the MTX or totally

unrelated, it should't matter. I am concerned for you and a medical

proffesional needs to hear about this problem whether is was just a little

bit or a lot. Especially since it has occurred twice.

Keep us informed!!!

Thank you . Yes, I am scheduled for my LTHR on September 8. It is being done at a larger city hospital. I went to 3 Dr.'s until I found one I really felt I could trust. He seems to be pretty amazing. I hope I chose right!

I can't believe all you've been through!! If you want to email privately, feel free to: jib51@...

Hugs,

Hi ita,

You sound so much like what I have been through. Have you tried seeing a pain specialist to at least help with your pain? I feel so for you as I know what you are talking about. Even tho I have seen bad doctors in the past the pain has been less after the operations. This one would of been a breeze if not fo rth ebrok femur bone. I had no trouble with the new hip replacement. So do think about it. Please see a doctor at a big hospital as I learnt the hard way. I went to the smaller hospitals because they were closer to my home.

I wish you could have it done in Tulsa, he is a PPO doctor and he knows how to work the insurrance compainies. They wanted me out three days after my operation! He said "Oh, no I have letters to take care of that" and he did. He has been great from day one.

I am going to pray you find the right doctor for you. I know how you feel and care.

Love and friendship,

ita - I remembered your story when Brigit was asking about open heart surgery.... Glad you are back and could help out with your experiences.

Hope you and the kiddos continue to do well - hubby too!

It takes so much time to figure all of this out, doesn't it! You really have

to try things out and see if you react to them. Processed flour is not good for

us anyway, so I avoid it. That's why I like the Ezekial bread and Ezekial wraps

- no flour. And also yummy!
