Jill, in the early years, the RA was mostly in my muscles, not the joints,

so I can relate to your situation. I learned later that Fibro was involved

and still can't figure out which one is playing with me after 20 years of

dealing with it. One thing you can count on is that it will get worse,

better, or stay the same! I hope it gets better for you.

Hi Jill,

You do need to see a doctor. I've been having problems with my left

leg, forever. It would swell, tingling, numbness, just a irritating

feeling. I was finally diagnosed with neuropathy pain.

I also have fibro, and it can be very painful. Had pain for years:(

You really need to talk with your doctor though, and maybe he can

pinpoint the problem.

I was put on neurontin at first, for neuropathy pain. It did help the

leg pain and swelling. After adding cymbalta, it has really helped.

The cymbalta helps neuropathy pain and fibro, so I lucked out.

You take care, and keep us posted.

some relief! It wasn't perfection, but it was bareable and hardly an

issue. , right? Well, about 3 weeks ago things started to go down

hill. I'm no where near as bad as I was in the past, but clearly I am

regressing. One of the things that always baffles my mind is how the RA

spreads to different areas. I've had it in my neck (the worst, by far),

wrist, hands, ankles, knees, jaw... anyway, right now... it's so weird

that I almost am not sure it's the RA. It is kinda like my calf muscle

and up to the back of my thigh. I mostly feel it after getting up from a

seated position. It almost feels like a charlie horse. Weird right? It

is not a joint, but the muscle. I can rub it and feel it is definitely

the muscle that is sore. So... I had a flashback to the days I was on

birth control pills, and remembered something called Deep Vein

Thrombosis, where you get sharp pains up the back of your legs. I looked

it up and it is kinda vague, so I am not really sure it is that

either... I'm just saying it to see if this is a common side effect of

RA meds or something. Thought I'd run this by the group. Does anyone

else get this? Should I go to my doctor (I have appt on Oct. 17th)

Jill I am not a doctor but if you think you may have a DVT you should go to

your doctor asap. this also could be you sciatic nerve some times that nerve

will cause more pain down the leg then in the back and that also needs attention

rather quickly . not trying to scare you just hope you feel better. best wishes
