Guest guest
I was put on Plaquenil when first diagnosed, as the main drug. (about 1 1/2 yrs. ago). I was feeling really good on it, but was taken off when I became severely anemic, and they don't know if that's what caused it or not. I was then put on Metho, and to put it mildly, am NOT happy. Either my disease is much worse now, or the Plaquenil did a really good job. Marsha
Guest guest
Hi Amy I have had RA for six years (after 15 years remission) and used plaquenil together with the antibiotic minocycline (a mild dmard). In the beginning I used prednisone as well but was able to stop that after about 6 months. I never had any side effects from the plaquenil but unfortunately became sensitive to it after four years and had to stop. I got dermatitis, apparently quite a rare reaction. Just my luck! I know of others who have been taking plaquenil for 15 years with no side effects. It can affect the retina so eye tests are needed every 6 months but I never had any problem.
