Guest guest
Same here- I have psoriasis myself too, and on me it can sometimes, if I've been scratching it (bad habit, I know...) it will look red and weepy. If it gets to that point, it will sort of crust over and then go back to the cradle cap- flaky/scaly look. & Sophia, 2 1/2 psoriatic arthritis > > > > > > > > For those of you with kids with Psoriatic Arthritis, what does it look > like > > on their scalps? Guest guest
My child doesn't have psoriatic arthritis, but I have psoriasis, and this is how I can describe mine. The difference in my typical dandruff and the psoriasis patches is the weepiness. Guest guest
Hi Darrin, I go to Dr. Goldstein in North Hills. He is experienced with AP and even gives IV's in his office. The only thing he does NOT take any kind of insurance. I pay out of pocket. I have been seeing him for 12 years. When I first started doing IV's he let me do my own at home.but he only does them in the office now. I have to admit.he will try to get you on other things (supplements) but will order antibiotics. He is not a rheumatologist. Cooky I am new to the group and was hoping someone could help me. I was recently diagnosed with psoriatis arthritis. I researched the antibiotic protocol and was hoping to find a physician that has experience with the protocol. Guest guest
Hi, Harald: In many cases of PsA there is a demonstrated link with underlying celiac-sprue. Chances are antibiotics would help a little bit, but there is a variety of arthritogenic pathogens in the gut and fixing LGS first is the better course in this disease as antibiotics can encourage the wrong kinds of growth and cause dysbiosis (bacterial balance) issues. If You are NOT B27+ there is a chance of having PsA but in an antigen-positive individual I would put that at a very low probability. Guest guest
Hi, I haven't posted for awhile. I am seronegative blood but present with joint pain in back, neck, wrists, hands and feet. Sometimes knees. I have been on Plaquenil for 4 months. I think it may be helping, but hard to tell because I found out I was pregnant a month ago. Plaquenil is safe for pregnancy. The RA doctor has been leaning towards a diagnosis of RA, however, I have developed nail problems. I blamed the Plaq. but she assured me it does not do this. I went to dermatologist who tested for fungus infection which came back negative and she said most likely its psoriasis of the nails. I went to my RA doctor and let her look at my nails and she concurred with dermatologist that it is. She said it can be associated with joint pain and swelling. When I looked it up on internet, looks like I may have psoriatic arthritis. What does anyone know about this disease? Or, can I have RA still and psoriasis of the nails? Any input is welcomed. Guest guest
Hi Dr. Garg, Thank you for responding. I also have nodules (I think called tenosynovitis of my hands) and some nodules developing under my second and third toe. I have had lower back pain for years and have had multiple xrays diagnosing sacrolization of the L5. But, when I ask about that, most doctors say I was probably born with that. I have hip pain as well. I am newly pregnant and I guess I have to be careful what I am on. My RA said after pregnancy, knowing about the psoriasis of nails, she would probably put me on I don't know the spelling but a sulfamethozole? I also have dry eyes and rosacea, osteoporosis. Guest guest
My hubby was just diagnosed with this just before summer. He's on low dose prednisone (1 and a half pills once a day), Methoroxate (8 pills once a week), and Mobic (once a day). As well as Tramadol for pain. At first they were unsure if it was Lupus, Gout, or a form of RA. We thought it was nail fungus too, but both the RA doctor and Dermatologist said it's the Psoriatic Arthritis. The fungus on his one finger nail (the only one he had issues with) is much better. Of course that one and his one pinky finger is a bit lumpy and started to deform from the RA. His big toe on the right foot is giving him major pain the past few days. The fungus is a bit more on that nail and is VERY painful for him. He does use creams and medicine shampoo for the rest of the skin issues. His skin is looking much better. Still is pops out like a reddish rash on his face (more like irrated after shaving) if he's out in the sun for to long. Needless to say we don't stay out much. All bloodwork he just had came back great. Granted his Vitamin D and Iron is still a little low, but nowhere at the levels they were at a few months back. Even the inflammation levels went way down. They were at 88 a couple months ago and are below 20 now. Granted he still gets tired, but I know what he's going through. Our general doctor says it's weird to find a married couple that both have auto immune diseases. I was diagnosed with Crohn's Disease 2 yrs ago and had to have a bowel resection. I got joint issues as well with this so I know it's rough. Tabby
Guest guest
, It would be unusual to have both psoriatic arthritis and rheumatoid arthritis, but some people with RA do have psoriasis. Guest guest
I would recommend seeing a dermatologist for a true diagnosis, but it does sound a like like psoriasis. My son, 12, had psoriasis since age 4 and psoriatic arthritis since age 5. Methotrexate works for psoriasis, as well as arthritis. Now that he's being weened off of mtx, it makes sense that the psoriasis might be coming out. Guest guest
His rheumatologist noticed a spot on his underarm during a regular check-up. He sent us to the dermatologist that he works with who examined nie and, after discussing it with the rheumatologist, they changed the diagnosis. The Enbrel and the cream have kept it under control very well. Abbie > > > Abby was diagnosed with pauciarticular arthritis two years ago and she is > currently being weaned off of MTX.
