Guest guest
Yes it makes total sense! I had a very traumatic childhood and have PTSD. All that STRESS on the body could only cause problems like Fibromyalgia and RA. I have both. The other part of it is carrying those memories and never expressing them and never releasing the anger of it all along with the shame (even though it is never the childs fault)....I have had 8+ years of intense therapy from the effects of abuse my childhood had on me. Therapy is much needed not only for us mentally but physically as well. But, it certainly explains alot. When I think back over my life, the trauma and drama of it all, it certainly fits with what your Rheumy told you. Doesn't help any with the pain, but it certainly explains why. Thanks for sharing that. Doreen Hi Group: So i started with a new Rheumy (nice enuf guy). Anyways, we are going along with history/physical blah blah and he asks me about my childhood, what was it like and the he says research shows that 70% of people suffering from Fibromyalgia had traumatic childhoods of physical or sexual abuse. That floored me! He said they don't know why. The pain is physical and real. OKD
Guest guest
I, like anyone else, do like to assign blame for all of my ailments. But this is all merely speculation. I did not have a traumatic childhood at all, and I still got RA. I realize that trauma in childhood can manifest itself in many ways in adulthood, but I don't think it has anything to do with RA. Just my opinion. Sue On Oct 10, 2010, at 10:53 AM, Mischievous Kitten wrote: > Yes it makes total sense! I had a very traumatic childhood and have > PTSD. Guest guest
It seems more probable with fibromyalgia. I do like to assign blame, but sometimes you just can't.
