Hi Dayna,

I just joined this a couple of days ago, and have been lurking.

I know what you mean... so what I decided to do is leave my plate on the table and tell myself I can go back if I want it later. Sometimes I find I am afraid to stop because what if I throw away the food and then realize 1/2 hour later that i am hungry after all?

So I leave my plate until later, when I am sure I dont want it. then I throw the food away. it's usually less appetizing after a bit anyway.

i think this is especially good when it's a treat. so it's not an all-or-never-again thing.

For some reason I am finding it somewhat sad to give up my membership to the clean plate club. After my workout this morning I felt like making myself a good sized (but healthy) breakfast. After I got it all made, I sat down to this wonderful looking meal and couldn't wait to dig in. About half way through I found that I was starting to get full and that I probably needed to stop. For some reason the fact that I was getting full before I could enjoy the entire meal made me somewhat sad/disappointed. I REALLY wanted to eat the whole thing. But instead I ended up throwing it out (I suppose I could have saved it for later). I never thought it would be so hard to reliquish my membership to the clean plate club:(

Hope y'all have a great day!God Bless,Dayna:)

I know, after I threw the food away, I got to thinking that maybe I should have saved it for later. I think that's what I'll do next time so I don't feel so deprived.

God Bless,

Dayna:)

Cleaning the plate? Yes, big problem when the food tastes really good.

No problem at all when the food doesn't taste that good (like some

cafeteria stuff).

Another big problem is not to create a new rule " I MUST'N clean my

plate! "

I'm struggling with this one quite a bit at the moment.

Yes, Im struggling with that as well. Rules...don't we LOVE them?!?!?!? I occasionally find that I make it a challenge to leave food on the plate, just to prove to myself that I can do it. So, I have to give myself permission to continue eating if I'm still hungry. Getting the right balance is definately a challenge!!!

God Bless,

Dayna:)

I think we are simply used to them in every aspects of our lives. I mean

what parts of our lives are not " ruled by (external) rules " ?

Think about guidelines, deadlines, (alarm) clocks, schedules...
