Guest guest
Hi Have you ever considered you are having a panic attack. I suffered some before the RA but since I have started on all these meds the attacks had become really bad.My heart would pound, I would sweat profusely and felt like I was having a heart attack. Like you I could not even drive. I saw a psychiatrists as my reumy suggested and he put me on ativan. Its a whole new world for me. I must warn you it is addictive and I dont like that but I can't function without it.Hope this helps. Carol [ ] Still fatigued but now venting! Yesterday after delivering a lecture to my students, I almost passed out. I had felt funny all morning but chalked it up to anemia. But after scaring my students, my heart was pounding, I got very nauseous and started perspiring. I thought " great. I'm having a heart attack. " Instead of going to the ER (which I don't know why i didn't) I went to my GP. She ran another blood test, still anemic but better. She did an EKG. Nothing. Other blood tests show nothing. I had center chest pains on and off all night with severe fatigue. I went to bed at 9 and couldn't drag myself out of bed to go teach this morning. I went and had an XRay and I'm PRAYING it shows something. It's been one thing after another for two years now. Even my husband is getting tired of " a new problem every month. " (I had pneumonia, kidney stones and cellutis this year!) Now this. My coworkers can be extremely catty. One told me on Monday my problem is that I go to se e the doctor in the first place. (This from a woman with a huge cyst on her breast) I am home from work. Again. My heart occasionally races, I'll get dizzy and I will sweat buckets! I can't drive like this. I work 30 minutes away. The pain is in the center of my chest but it only lasts a couple of seconds. I am losing my breath walking up the stairs. I know this isn't normal! I am only 40 and I feel like I am 80. Help! I'm at a low point right now. G.
Guest guest
Have you been checked for Lupus? Also have they checked you for hiatal hernia? I don't get chest pain but I do get the nausea, the sweating and the extreme fatigue - I have had it checked out and they attribute the symptoms to my Lupus and Hiatal Hernia. I know that with autoimmune illnesses like my RA, Lupus and Fibromyalgia - I too have gotten many weird symptoms and unfortunately these symptoms cause severe anxiety. I still would have everything checked out by a doctor. I can relate, it has been one thing after another for me too since 2006. It is hardest on our family since they can't understand our struggle. You have to walk in our shoes to know the uncertainty of our conditions. Hang in there and get everything checked out by your doctors. Vivian-California [ ] Still fatigued but now venting! Guest guest
, Have you checked your blood pressure during one of these attacks.  When mine goes up which is seldom I get light headed, really short of breath on steps, heart pounding, perspiring etc. My husband was ready to take me to the hosp. It really was just one of my meds running it up. started out witha slight elevation but after a few weeks I could hardly function I was so weak. Finally figured out what was causing it and stopped the med and in a couple of weeks was feeling better.Hope you get to feeling better soon. linda From: ldydewinter <kgrounds@...> Subject: [ ] Still fatigued but now venting! Guest guest
it sounds like the panic attacks i have.... tho i don't have them too much now. i'm taking effexor and klonipin... it helps a lot. it also sounds like the moods i get, going into menapause. 40 is not too young for menapause to start on you. i started having the hot flashes and all the mood swings at a very early age. you might ask them to check your hormone levels. hope you get to feeling better, hon.. betty
Guest guest
Before I read the entire blog, I had placed an answer or comment about your situation. One of the suggestions was visit a cardiologist and get a holter monitor which is what they are going to do! I don't know your employment situation, but do you work enought hours per year (1250) and am in a benefitted position to apply for medical leave for yourself? This would be protected time to protect your position for six months. If you are not in a benefitted position, perhaps contacting HR and having your physician write a verification of treatmemt (they don't say what it is you were seen for, only that you were unable to work that day). I am a manager and I do follow these guidelines. Not all illness is " forgiven " but when the employee shows a track record of having an ongoing medical condition, that is taken into consideration. Heck, I am in the same boat, as I have RA and I get IV infusions every six weeks, about 200 yards from my office door so it is not like I can even hide it! My boss has been extremely supportive for which I am eternally grateful. I hope this situation clears up for you, but perhaps your HR, once realizing the seriousness of this would be supportive as well.
