Guest guest
" We " (me, Sweet wild child and darling food police girl) have been practicing eating small amounts outside of our meals. Example.....We went to Costco last night after work and of course there was samples everywhere. In the past I would have white knuckled it throught the store terrified that if I took one bit....it would have turned into a 4 course dinner by the time I got out of the store. But this time we use it as a chance to strengthen our " eating a small amount and stopping muscle " ....so we had a cracker with cheese and we noticed how yummy it was because we were pretty hungry....and food tasted better when we our hungry. Now Sweet wild child wanted another one, but I reminded her we would be going home to a yummy dinner, chose by her in a few minutes and she was fine. We have also been eating raisins one at a time....like when I notice the box of raisins in my cupboard i will get one out and put it in my mouth and go about my business. I read about doing that somewhere. I guess in the past if I could eat a box of raisins in a setting it's ok to eat just one in a setting. LOL This new adventure is really a trrrrrrrrrrrrrip...... Guest guest
I am in graduate school and in my Human Behavior class my professor had one of her friends come in to do a question and answer session. Her friend was a stay - at - home Dad, raising his son while his Wife worked. We were supposed to ask questions, which related to cultural, social etc... implications. ANYWAY half way through a girl in class took out her bag of gold fish, which are one of my favorite foods. The little boy immediately ran over and looked at her for permission to eat some goldfish. She then leaned over and let him reach his hands in the gold fish bag. Over the course of an hour he kept on going back and forth to the gold fish bag, taking one gold fish at a time to eat. I found that incredibly interesting. And, with the help of my classmates, I realized that this child was being raised to eat intuitively. He did not feel the need to rush the bag and grab giant handfuls to shove in his mouth... This is what I would have done! Instead he knew he could have any amount and type of food he wanted at any time. So he took a gold fish as he felt he needed it, and savored it. For me, it was really amazing! In short, I think taking the time to eat one food item at a time is a really good idea! - K
