Guest guest
I have kept my direct supervisor aware of all the tests and problems going on since I accepted the director position at my school back in March. I have not shared much with the owner of the school. I don't know what my supervisor has shared. A colleague (who has epilepsy)pulled me aside yesterday and told me I should not disclose anything to our employers because they would start looking for other reasons to fire us. She has never disclosed her medical problems, even going to the extent of making up a death in the family when she had a grande mal seizure and needed a day to recooperate. I was getting ready to fill out FMLA paperwork because I have to have surgery. This conversation has me paranoid. I am not on the company insurance plan. I make up my sick days--I never want to be accused of shirking! But she has me thinking...am I being stupid in reporting days I am working from home, needed to go to a doctor's appointment or to the ER? The truth is, I'm at the school because I love the students. The pay and benefits are a joke. I'd make more money teaching at a university (!!) or in my own private practice. If I were fired, I'd grieve only because I've never been fired and I would miss my students and fellow teachers. NOT the place. What should I be doing to CMA?
