Guest guest
Amy Lynn- Believe it or not, you are put into a " halo " which is a metal ring with screws and points going toward your head. They tighten your head into this and then place the halo into a holder that keeps your head steady for the duration of surgery. Now, you people who have not been into surgery, do not fear - they do this when you are under, and post op - you really might just think you had a bug bite, because of the localized swelling. My spots were more prominent in my scalp, and I couldn't figure out what they were until I asked at my follow up appointment. Discovery Channel just recently had a young girl on, and followed her through her Chiari surgery. Apparently, her father is the chief of surgery at a hospital in Chicago...It was really neat to watch, so look for it. Everyone take care, Joan
