Preventing illness while on Methotrexate

My husband will be starting methotrexate in the next week for his RA. How do

others on Methotrexate avoid getting sick?

He works as a janitor, and we are concerned he may be exposed to more " bugs "

than the average population. He has never been one to come down with colds and

flu. How can we keep it that way?

Friends have recommended supplements to boost his immunity. But would these

work against the methotrexate?
