Betty, I believe that people who get in the doughnut hole are supposed

to get a little relief, I think $150. I think it's this year, but I'm

not sure. It won't help much, but maybe a little.

What med do you take that costs $300? Can you get help from the

company that makes it?

I have been in the donut hole since Jan 4 10...my very first medication fill

my copay was 4000.00..and yes there was a one time 250.00 check for those in

the donut hole by April I believe it was..so, if you just reached the hole I

don't believe you will get the check.

Fyi.the copay for orencia is 1800.00 (after insurance)

I just learned that Humira (Abbott) labs will help those with no insurance

the drug is free, those with insurance the co pay is cut to 5.00 and those

with Medicare can still apply for assistance.most companies would not help

if you have Medicare D but Abbott will..

Does Medicare help pay for Orencia, since it's given by infusion?

Ms Betty-

Have you had your Doc fill out the paperwork for the pharmaceutical company? You

may qualify for free meds or at least way reduced. Also, there are many state

and Federal programs. Ask your drug store folks- they will know all  of the in &

outs for your state.

I have never heard of anybody being the hole in JANUARY!

in SC

Well, My meds are 10,000.00 a month..my first fill of 1 prescription put me

in the hole..that med is 7000.00..I have been in the donut hole every year I

have been on medicare (5 yrs) by the 15th of January.thank goodness I was on

COBRA for the first 2 as my meds/iv's were about 90,000.00 a MONTH.I had

fabulous insurance prior to becoming disabled...and when you look at

biologics that you take 2-3 x the normal dose and take them much more

frequently then the norm..my pain meds alone are /were 425.00 a day.my iv's

were 2000.00 a bag/1 bag a day...thats not even factoring in the

biologics..When I had regular insurance I usually met my 1000.00 out of

pocket maximum by February..,,,

I learned that in 2011 and 2012 the donut hole will disasppear..at least

that is what the letter I received with the check for 250.00.
