Guest guest
Thanks, I feel so alone sometimes because others here (here in ca and my group) are against it. Now my only problem is getting PG. sandy << Sandy, You go girl! I just turned 38 yesterday and am pregnant. My daughter is 9 (10 on Jan 8th and the baby is due Dec 29th). I had my surgery on Dec. 10th 1998 so I wasn't that far ahead of you. I've lost appx 120lbs and I'm enjoying being pregnant. Although I thoroughly enjoyed my other pregnancy, I have more energy with this one although I am 10 years older. If anyone flames you for wanting to bring another life into this world, tell them to, ahem...bite you! haha! I wish you all the luck.. Even though my surgeon told me that I shouldn't get pregnant for 18 months, when I did at 3 months out, he told me that me and the baby will be fine as long as I keep them pre-natal vitamins coming! Good luck. If I can answer any questions, feel free to ask. Margaret >>

Morbid obesity certainly ads to fertility problems and alot of us on this list had this surgery to be able to HAVE children, myself included. I would love to have a " second " chance at parenting if I had had children young. I am 31 and looking to have my first in the next year or so. Welcome, sit down, and stay with us for a while. Guest guest
Hi Sandy! Lots of docs give their bariatric patients a six-month period to wait instead of a twelve-month period... so you're probably just fine. Plus, I've known of SEVERAL people ( " ladyhawke " being one of them) who got pregnant inadvertently just a couple of months out... so it's not the end of the world or a death sentence for the baby or anything. Maybe not the OPTIMUM thing, but it can work fine. Don't fret... if you want to get pregnant, go for it! : ) That's what we're here for, not to chastise or berate each other but to support one another in our decisions and to give helpful hints or discuss matters that don't belong on the general OSSG list like OB visits, over-cautious doctors, prenatal vitamins that don't get stuck in the silastic ring that some of us now sport in our tummies, etc etc... -Kris >Hi Im sandy and I live in southern CA I had my surgery on Feb 18 99 and >so >far I have lost about 70 lbs. Hi, Sandy! I'm Christy and I'm new here too (Hi, everybody!). I live in the South on the other coast and YOU are not going to believe this.... I had my surgery on Feb 17 99! What's worse? I'm going into my fifth month of pregnancy. I was so glad to see your post because I thought I was the only one in the world who had gotten pregnant this close to the surgery. I've lost about 90 lbs. and am still going. Have you talked to your surgeon? Did he/she give you any advice for the pregnancy? I'm going to see mine for my 6 month evaluation in two weeks. I'm so scared of what he's going to say when I tell him I'm pregnant. Anyway, welcome to this list, the list owner is GREAT and from what I've seen and read here so far, so is everyone else. I can't wait to hear from you. Also, if any of you have any advice for us or were pregnant before your " magic year " was up, please post us some good ones, ok? (no flames, please.... ) Christy in VA (ok, not exactly as South as southern Cal., but still...) 24-years-old Gastric Bypass 2/17/99 Pre-op 315 lbs. Currently 225 lbs. (and loving it!)
