Guest guest
Hi all, I had my second decompression on March 8, developed pneamonia on March 9, developed a blood clot on brain stem on March 10. Another surgery to get rid of blood clot. Spent 5 days in ICU on ventalator and 7 days in step-down. Then 5 hour trip home. I was out of work 3 months. Doctor gave me the okay to return to work. I worked 4 days and had to call the doctor. He faxed a letter to my work that I could only work 4 hours per day up to 5 days per week and that in 6 weeks he would re-evaluate me to see if I was suitable for full-time employment. I have been working 4 hours per day and come home and sleep for 5 hours. I feel so tired. My symptoms since surgery are severe double vision, balance problems (I walk like I've had 4 beers or wine too many), 7 bad headaches, and my mouth is numb (I cannot taste my food), my left leg is numb and some of my finger tips are numb. My 6 weeks of parttime work are almost up and I am really concerned that I may not be able to work fulltime. Does anyone know if I can apply for SSDI or do I have to be totally out of work? My family counts on my paycheck to make ends meet. It has been very hard on us having to make ends meet on my parttime pay. Any thoughts or suggestions would be appreciated. Debi in NC Chiari, hydrocephalus, nystagmus, Neurally mediated hypotension, ataxia, VP shunt (1991), 5 shunt revisions, 2 decompressions (1992 & 2000), still having problems.
