Guest guest
, You're definitely not alone on the not really knowing hunger in the beginning of IE. It may be helpful to read the thread about Principle 2 - " Honor Your Hunger " that starts with Arnie's post number:Message #17028. My post on hunger is 17029. I went through a phase of tracking my hunger cycle over the course of several days. I would wait for obvious hunger signals, then eat, then track the progression of fullness to hunger to develop an understanding of how my body gets to hunger. For example, I now know that my abdomen area gets warm before the growls begin. I read somewhere that if you have to think about if you're hungry, you're probably not hungry and I've found this to be true. I believe that developing an intuitive sense of hunger takes some time and initial effort to get to know your hunger. Over the course of the past months, I get this " knowing " that I'm hungry...it's not a thought that I'm hungry...I feel that I'm hungry. I also prefer to wait for obvious hunger signals before eating...it helps keep me out of the gray zone of potentially eating for non-hunger reasons. Latoya How do you tell when you're really just hungry? or not hungry? It feels a little embarrasing just admitting that I don't know. Guest guest
I've been doing pretty well with this, but there still is some gray area for me at times. Thanks for posting the hunger scale you made Christie. I think I might copy it down or make one of my own!
