Scarey! My gut reaction were I in your situation would be to do a

course of Essiac and to drink red clover blossom tisanes. Herbal is

always my first choice of cure, then vitamin, then stress-control.

(Actually combined, not sequential like it sounded.) After a little

thought (and if fear was enough of a motivation),I'd probably go with

a macrobiotic diet, too. There are so many choices these days, with

folks like Weil giving us across-the-health-spectrum advice.

It's not like we're in the medical dark totally relying on the Family

Doctor for answers. Dr. Google is always there, too. :) Be positive!

That said, is it possible that the node enlargement is coming from

something other than the cancer? An infection? How is the cause of

the lymph change determined?

Kimi, some suggestions:

Study information available from Jerry Brunetti who used WAP nutrition

information plus other natural protocols to heal himself of cancer (lymphoma)

and check out the website www.healingcancernaturally.com There is a lot of

valuable information there. Also, Body Ecology teaches some important

principles for healing the immune system and related health conditions

www.bodyecology.com. And be positive and don't succumb to fear!!! You can do

it!

God bless you on your healing journey!

Kimi,

Sorry to hear about your situation. First, before you do anything else is, you

need to address the reason for your cancer in the first place. Most believe it

is due to toxins. I would start with a total body cleanse. Liver, gallbladder,

kidney etc. You can go to www.naturalcures.com to get some ideas of cleanses or

go to Dr. Schulzes " Incurable " plan. You can find it at www.dr-schulze.com

Good luck and my prayer is with you. Blessing Jane

I've heard some very posotive things about the Gerson therapy. They have clinics

in the US but they have a hospital in Mexico where it is LEGAL to treat cancer

without chemo and radiation. Here is their web address: http://www.gerson.org/

Hi Kimi,

I would get on the trad food group through WAP. There are international members

there who have loads of good info. There is info in the groups files about

cancer. It is sooo good to talk with people in this group.

I believe you can find it in the webwatch section of WAP. Apply to become a

member, but before you are accepted you can still read past and present posts.

Best to you,

I have heard (though not tried) a castor oil pack on

painful lymph nodes. I gleaned that from the acor.org

list. You might want to search on the archives there.

Here's another site:

http://altmedicine.about.com/cs/dietarytherapy/a/CastorOilPack.htm

It has a seemingly dubious history of 'detoxifying'

and all of that nonsense. However, perhaps the

lingering heat makes a difference, at least in

comfort.

Here are parts of two posts from acor.org. I make no

claims about the positives or minuses of such

treatment.

" To reduce pain and shrink lymph nodes, you should do

the castor oil pack treatment for about one hour

daily. At

first the feeling of relief is wonderful and the warm

packs

are very comfortable. Then after three-four days

somehow

they become uncomfortable as the body seems to want to

reject them. I think that is the time to stop. By then

the

lymph nodes should be soft and on their way out in any

case.

So you can't overdo this treatment!

And:

Castor Oil Packs

The function of the packs is to improve blood and

lymph flow. Applied to the swollen nodes daily, for at

least a week, for sixty minutes each time, it will

relieve pain and soften and shrink the nodes. The

packs should be made up of wool or cotton flannel,

folded four-ply, (old socks are great too), saturated

with cold-pressed castor oil (cloth should not be

dripping).

The oil-saturated flannel is then placed directly on

the skin and covered with a piece of plastic, such as

a plastic bag. Place an old towel over it. Apply heat,

in the form of a hot water bottle or heating pad over

the pack. Recline on the bed or couch, but cover it

well with plastic first to protect it from the oil.

Make this sixty minutes the " quiet time " of the day,

meditate, read something uplifting or listen to music.

After the treatment, you can clean your skin with a

solution of two teaspoons of baking soda dissolved in

one quart of water. You can use the same castor oil

pack for additional applications. It is important to

discard the pack after a certain number of uses or

when it becomes rancid. It may be helpful to store the

pack in a plastic storage container and refrigerate

between uses. Add extra castor oil as needed. The wool

or cotton flannel packs can be used for approximately

25-30 applications before they are to be discarded.

Avoid eating animal fats for the duration of this

treatment, use only olive oil.

The group CLL Alternatives may have something on

the treatment as well. You might check there.

a,

Experience with the Lymph Nodes is what I had to learn with .

Her's would pop up and the Dr would give her Antibotics but this did not make

it

go away a lot of the time. Another thing about it is also another place in

which the glands will pop up. On the back of her neck she would have knots on

her neck the Dr checked these as well. Checking a Pattern of the Asthma and

the JA Flares. When her JA would act up these Lymph Nodes would be swollen.

Sometimes just alittle then sometimes big. So watch for this. When I found out

about these knots I would automatically check these areas often. Sometimes they

hurt would say. Another thing I noticed about this was if

had a virus these knots would pop up as well. At times the neck would be to

sore to move. I am not sure if it is always related to JA but with it

was a Pattern. I never knew we had glands in the neck so I learned alot. We

have Lymph nodes in places you would not think about.

Robbin. our son (now 32) has had these all his life...that I can remember. He is

very healthy but his lymph glands in his neck are always big and get bigger when

he is sick. He has his own internist now and when he was sick last..the doctor

asked him if he had had his tonsils out. He has had them out when he was little.

The doc said that the lymph nodes collect viral/bacterial infection. That keeps

it from infecting his whole body. I have worried about them for so many years

and the doc along the way told me that they wern't a prob. So far they have not

been. Hope this helps! So sorry has to go thru this!

I wish I had answers.. I need some help too.

About three weeks ago I discovered enlarged lymph nodes in Cade's (4

years old, poly) neck. The next day I found a sore in his mouth,

that

lasted only for a day or two, I thought okay they are enlarged

because

of the sore but the nodes are still enlarged on both sides basically

starting at the collar bone and going up. I don't know what to do

either. I have read that systemic can cause enlarged nodes. ??

Thanks for letting me jump on !

From what I have read lately..lymph nodes under jaw and the ones' near collar

bone can be two different diagnoses. I would definately ask the ped what the

difference is.

I don't know of any way to shift nodes around but can recommend an old

remedy from Granny Barb's list for the pain: soak a square of tightly

woven (not fuzzy) wool in Castor oil and apply. Do it on and off when

needed for about 10 minutes, as I remember. Anyone remember more

about this? Also just a thought -- when my underarm nodes got big, so

did some nodes inside my stomach and groin area; a CT Scan would show

if other nodes are present and what they're up to.

But I also had discomfort there; if you don't, I'd think the CT would

be very optional.

Let us know if the oil helps!

I remember it helping me. Where I got the square of wool I don't

Hi,

I've read that CLL can wax and wane, and regress spontaneously* perhaps not as

commonly as for follicular b-cell lymphoma (FL).

Such episodes (abrupt nodal swelling) are pretty common in FL and can recede

slowly after occuring. You may want to monitor your temperature to help your

doc determine if it's possibly reactive ... a response to an infection for

example.

Chloe has had very swollen lymph nodes after several of her surgeries, but they have always resolved on their own after a few months. She is one week post op, and she has two the size of large, hard marbles. They do not bother her, unless they are touched.

Good luck!

Mine were swollen. They went back to normal after a short period of

time. I had wondered if it was because my immune system was overloaded

from the surgery. I treated mine as I would have if I was coming down

with the flu or a cold - get plenty of rest, fluids, good nutrition,

and eliminate junk foods, or anything else that would wear on your

immune system. Sorry, it's been over a year now, I don't remember

specifically how long it lasted, but it was several days.

Hi group. I was wondering if anyone with RA also has problems with swollen lymph

nodes. I currently have a bunch under both arms and behind both knees, and to

top it off a lump in my breast. I am going to the doctor tomorrow, but am

terrified. I have had swollen lymph nodes before, but not to the extent that

they currently are and never behind the knees. Was just wondering if anyone else

has had this and what the doctor said. Thanks, Donna

lot to do with RA!
