I don't want to stay home and have my son regress but I have no idea what to do. Thanks
Guest guest
Camp!! Noah is doing the Y for part of the summer, the cost is reasonable and is also sliding scale. There are several locations throughout the county for special needs kids. The day is extremely structured and includes reading, math, life skills, social skills, arts and crafts, etc. The groups are small and most important, Noah had a great time today! -----Original Message-----From: sList [mailto:sList ]On Behalf Of emilywihlborgSent: Sunday, June 08, 2008 10:25 AMTo: sList Subject: What is everyone doing this summer? Guest guest
CAMP!!! I agree with that..I have seen so much growth each and every summer with Dylan. This is his sixth or seventh year at camp. Last year he attended his first end of summer dance at camp. I find summers a time to keep up with therapies but a time to let him be a kid...and run, and swim, and play field games, and go on trips and interact with others in a very non threatening way. The demands are less than during the year and it is a superb way to watch the generalization of the skills learned. 6 or 7 years ago I hesitated about camp and was concerned about loosing that precious time that could be spent in therapy..however with my son I have watched him grow socially and get more independent each year...He comes home happy and tired every day!! I would suggest you check out several camps...Camp Kool in Coral Springs, Camp Giborim at the JCC, the YMCA, Camp Play ABA in Sunrise or Camp Crayola at ARC..to name a few, there are more out there..they are all different and geared for diffferent needs and abilites...so have some fun this summer!!. -------------- Original message from " Karp" : -------------- Camp!! Guest guest
I live in Sunrise and I know the one in Hollywood has one. Would a one day a week social group be better or a camp at the Y? My son has summer school 3 weeks in July. > > Camp!! > > Noah is doing the Y for part of the summer, the cost is reasonable and is > also sliding scale. Guest guest
Dawn, "Slide and Glide" is actually just a real cool playground for all ages. It is newly refurbished. It has lots of slides. Not sure how the glide comes into play, HA! It's free. If you go north on Coral Springs Drive to Wiles Road in Coral Springs then head east on Wiles to the first red light make a left then make immediate left to playground parking. Guest guest
Go to www.regmovies.com click on Now Showing and then to the left it says Free Family Film Festival. Click on that. Use the pull down list to choose Florida and then you have to go though the list to find the theater near you. The ones that I know of that do it are the Regal off Cypress Creek, The one off University in Coral Springs, The Sawgrass Movies and I think Oakwood in Hollywood. It tells you what is playing each week at each theater. Guest guest
Coconut Cove waterpark in Boca Raton is a great place to go with our kids. They have a big water slide a pool and a lazy river. It is not very big and is fully fenced to keep our wanders close by. When my son was younger, we went quite a bit. The ticket price is $10 for adults and $8 for kids. They have reduced rates (1/2 price) on Friday but if you buy a season thicke it is only $109 for one adult and 1 kid. You can't bring food into the waterpark, but there are picnic areas close by and you can by food in there. It can be a relaxing day if you go with a group and the lazy river ride is a great place for moms to cool down. Check out their website www.pbcgov.com/parks/aquatics/waterparks/coconut...
