And no, it is NOT a dream. :-) I have experienced the same thing. Once I started really TASTING junk food, and not just shoving it down my throat, wanting it only because I thought I couldn't/shouldn't eat it, I discovered the same things you did - it doesn't really taste very good and I don't like the way it makes me feel after. I guess all the chemicals and additives and hydrogenated fats don't taste good to me and I get this weird coating on my tongue from them. And they make me feel tired and kind of sick. Who needs THAT? Now, when I crave sweets, I usually prefer to make my own desserts, minus all those nasty chemicals and additives. My home made goodies don't make me feel ill, either. Congratulations on having your " dream " come true! :-)
Guest guest
I relate to this as well! I hardly eat processed sweets - I much prefer the real thing. Like you both, when I actually slowed down and tasted them...eww. And the coating on your tongue - so gross!! Homemade is much more satisfying, plus I really enjoy baking. It's very soothing and calming to me. Kim H. Subject: Re: Could it be possible? To: IntuitiveEating_Support Date: Sunday, September 7, 2008, 6:34 PM >> Am I really getting sick of junk...fun food?! Guest guest
Thanks for passing that on to us. It gives me hope. I've already seen a little improvement. I don't want junk food all the time anymore, but I'm not to the point yet where I can say it is unappealing to me. It is great to hear from someone that has recently reached that point. Guest guest
I love to bake, too. I'm really excited about apple season. Applesauce, crumbles and pies oh my! I haven't made an apple pie in a long time. > > > > Am I really getting sick of junk...fun food?! Me?! Guest guest
I had completely stopped baking while following OA food plan. I'm glad to be able to take it up again. I feel such freedom learning how to listen to my body's needs. This intuition and self-trust has re-connected me to so much - I've been working out alot of stuff in therapy the last few years, and IE fits in with everything for me Kim H IE since Aug '08 Subject: Re: Could it be possible? To: IntuitiveEating_Support Date: Sunday, September 7, 2008, 9:16 PM I love to bake, too. Guest guest
, that is so true about home made cooking! I did find a store bought cookie mix, organic and gluten free, dairy free(my grandson's are on a gluten free/dairy free/casein free plan) and the cookies are great and do not have any of the side effects of theregular mixes in the stores. The impact side effect is not there. I amchanging my cooking and baking, slowly! to use better ingredientsand it really makes a difference. I got so into convenience foods thatI forgot how much better making it my self is!Thanks for that reminder!!Hi J,That is great news! And no, it is NOT a dream. :-) I have experienced the same thing.
