Autism Training for Law Enforcement and First Response Professionals on July 9, 2008, in Orlando

On July 9, 2008 the Autism Society of America will sponsor a workshop Autism Spectrum Recognition and Risk Management for law enforcement and first-response professionals. This all-day, no-cost training opportunity at the Gaylord Palms Resort and Conference Center in Orlando, FL will give those in attendance insight and advice from the best group of in-the-know autism specialist trainers from around the country. Best of all, as part of ASA's Safe and Sound Initiative, we are able to offer this session FREE to all law enforcement and first response professionals. Register today at www.autism-society.org/safeandsoundsession.

Autism training for law enforcement and first response professionals is quickly becoming standard practice at agencies throughout the country, and is now mandated in several states. The training will offer the best information for uniformed field officers and emergency first responders to resolve contacts with children and adults on the autism spectrum, identify the trends of autism related contacts, offer communication and de-escalation tips and learn tactics, provide sample programs and strategies for investigating autism-related cases. The training will also offer information that will help prosecutors, public defenders, judges and juvenile justice, probation, parole and corrections professionals to adjust their programs and services for success when it involves autism. Those that attend can expect to leave with a good understanding of the risk and how to respond to persons with autism, and with access to the best training information, videos and tools to use in your training programs. This is the most comprehensive autism training ever offered in Florida. The Florida Department of Law Enforcement this year added autism to its basic academy training throughout the state, and I've had the good fortune to present the training in many cities across the state. What I haven't had is the opportunity to present with such an outstanding group of professional colleagues as we will have in Orlando on July 9 - learn more about them on the attached flyer. The session takes place July 9, 2008 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. in Orlando - register at www.autism-society.org/safeandsoundsession For more details, please download this flyer or contact Dennis Debbaudt at ddpi@... or .
