Guest guest
, I am very surprised that you were advised against a shoe lift. Ian's ped ortho had us put a lift on his shoe when he started walking... He was running around barefoot just to get his balance, but we progressively kept his shoes on longer so he would get used it. The concern is keeping their back and hips in proper alignment, without they could do some damage. Also, scoliosis is a concern due to the assymetry.. The bottom of the shoe is cut off, with some sole still attached to the shoe and the lift is put in between. That way, the bottom of the shoe still has it's good tread on it. That has worked out best for us, we had some shoes with the lift just attached to the bottom & we had problems, so that is my suggestion.. We make sure we get good quality shoes to for the lifts, since he doesn't grow out of them as fast as most children would, it is worth the extra money. Nikes work best for us, he's got very narrow feet. I think Stacie was saying something about Buster Brown shoes also. I do not know about the leg lenghtening. The ped ortho & I have been over it very briefly, but as we still don't have the absoulute results to his GH level test, I haven't been thinking that far down the road. I know of an older RSS child who was going to have it done, but I don't know the procedure went or how things have been going for him...
